Can I be honest here? I feel like if a VR game like that came out - where the setup and settings menu alone was this convoluted and over-the-top - I feel like I’d give an arm and a leg just to play it. Imagine how awesome the actual gameplay would be like if you have to go on an entire journey just to go print out a single document. It would be… probably one of the most convoluted, epic, and open games ever made. It would be like if God was Neo in the Matrix. I love the aesthetic of the virtual world here for some reason that era of bizarre computer technology really fascinates me, I think it stems from when I was a boy and I would dig through my dad's old computer junk in the basement, there was tons of early nineties CD ROM games and outdated technologies and the like. if I had the slightest idea how to program I'd be working on a game that simulated what would at first glance seem to be a straightforward outdated computer, but it would be filled with different types of programs and unusual and unsettling games. and gradually it would be revealed that the computer is much more advanced than it seems, and the games would get deeper and more frightening as you progressed through the mystery

As a tech guy, this is by far my favorite episode of Community! For many shows, when they choose to include technology in an episode, instead of being a cool addition, it turns into a distracting element that dates the show, like Chandler showing off his cool new laptop in Friends. But I feel like this episode is going to age like Fine Wine (little tech joke for you guys), since the episode is centered around the inherent limitations of VR and not showing off the tech.

It's funny, because we have actually have a functional version of just about everything in this video now. CatwalkVR treadmill, wireless controllers (and the occasional tracked hand-gloves), standalone and teathered headsets (with much thinner face-parts)... We've also got FBT for hips, legs, and feet, as well as some slightly out-of-reach haptic suits coming down the pipeline...

The Dean was very incorrectly referencing the phrase, “And when Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer”, from Die Hard by Hans Gruber.
