Yes, Yes, Yes. Thank you, Brother for this video. Excellent! This has never happened to me and I didn't know what the hell to think. Didn't even know that the crank shaft pulley could separate like that. To think that I was just about to hop on the road from California to Colorado in the cold weather. This has been a life saving video, and you recorded it so well. Once again, Thank you.

This happened to me today 25 minutes after picking up my truck from the shop. Luckily, I was able to get into a parking lot to wait on the tow truck. The best you can do is laugh about it 😂😂.

That fan assembly and shroudhaving to come out like that, together... is about enough to make you wanna leave a dirty message on chrystlers answering machine. I'm doing this now and I shoulda cut that bottom part of the shroud and zipped it back to the top after I did the whole cooling system/radiator system not long ago.

Left the belt on and used a flat pry bar across the fan studs to hold the crank enough to break the bolt free. Dorman replacement felt tight because it's supposed to, it's a transition fit over the shaft. You're supposed to install with a special tool, it's basically just a double threaded rod and nut that pushes the balancer back over the crank shaft evenly. Can rent them for free from any auto shop.

What sucks is the front crank seal is right behind that pulley so if you don't do it now you'll regret pulling it back off for a $20 seal later on

To install a brand new crank pully, you need to use a pully installer to drive it on

I wouldn't stick a rope in my piston. Ropes have fibers and they fray and fall off all the time. Don't want that in my piston. Sorry. I also will not take my starter off and wedge something in the teeth of my flywheel. I like my flywheel with all of it's teeth in tact. Here's what I'm going to try, I'm going to use the puller itself to hold my crank in place while I turn off the center bolt holding the pulley on. I'll do that by putting the puller on the pulley but leave off the main puller bolt in the center. I'll stick the socket on the center bolt first, put the puller on, then stick an extension through the center hole on the pulley, attach it to the socket, then turn loosen the center bolt while using the puller itself to keep the crank from turning. Bet you didn't think of that? Or, you just like to roll the dice with sticking things into your piston through the spark plug hole. I'll let you know how it turns out. Maybe I'll film it.

@superb60ce I was wondering about diameter and pitch, but I got it. I went and got a longer bolt to reinstall the balancer. 1/2-20 3 inches long. Thanks for the reply tho. I appreciate your time. Thanks for the good video!!
