Thanks for this video. I recently purchased a '91 Cherokee for $1,000. It began to overheat so I decided to change the radiator. I decided that while I was in there I'd replace the water pump, thermostat, and serpentine belt. I watched this video first, as well as some of your others. Hats off to you, sir! Thanks for the straightforward and easy to follow video. I just completed my radiator and thermostat install with your videos. No more overheating! Issues I ran into: You'll definitely need the fuel line disconnect for the lower transmission line, I used the 3/8 fitting I had to install the mechanical fan shroud before I reinstalled the top mounting bracket because I assume the new radiator I got was just a tad thicker than the old one. I ended up having to remove and reinstall the top bracket three times because I wasnt paying attention and didn't have everything positioned correctly the first time. The video doesn't mention there are two top mounting braces that you may need to remove from the old radiator and install onto the new radiator to mount properly to the top mounting bracket. There are two screws I wasnt using and that's where they ended up going. Thanks!

How do you determine what OE radiator is installed in your XJ? In this case, a 1997 Sport 6cyl 4.0, auto, with OE(?) tow package, there is a smaller radiator in front of the main one - tranny cooler? Reason for replacement is that the draincock started leaking and its rear/internal to the radiator piece broken off.

@@ferminjaime4866 I would start with spraying some lubricant between the tube and nut and let it soak for a while.. then try gently rocking the nut back and forth just a little bit to see if you can get it to break free of the tube without twisting it.. You could also try holding the tube with a pair of vice grips (gently) to keep it from twisting, assuming you could get a hold of it. If none of that works, you could try hitting the nut with some heat (propane torch) for a about 30 seconds to try to get it to expand enough to break free of the tube.. good luck

Awesome ! Sand dunes right? I have to go further upstate here for the best Trails. I just put 30 inch GT Radial Adventuro M/T -Tires new on this 2 inch Up-Country Lift. I will post a pic soon... BTW, The Heavy Duty Mopar radiator is in the Jeep. I did it this afternoon. thank God no leaks. She's running at a perfect 195 F*I also replaced all hoses>Upper, Lower and upper and lower heater Core hoses. Then I "BURPED IT" LOL... I didn't have the little blue trans hose remover but I cut the line in the right place in case after I see how things run in the winter, I can change it back to the old configuration if necessary. Here is a trick that works though first ok? You take a good thick layered piece of cardboard, Spray paint it Satin black all over and both sides, like 8-10 coats to make it strong and weather resistant. Take your front Grill off and take the painted dry cardboard and use the 678 left over cooler holes on the sides to just Zip Strip it together with mechanical wire and little bolts and washers(small size stuff like 6 mm) This will keep your temps perfect for a New York Winter. Only downside is that you have to take the piece off in the spring. Maybe plastic would fair better. Damn, now I have to do more research. Thanks Admiral...

Today was the real test. It was 95 F today, muggy as a sauna, 98 percent Humidity and I drove 140 miles there and back like every week (so I remember how the heat Gauge worked etc) The heat Gauge line stayed at 195 until going up the long hills which at that point didn't go a centimeter past the middle. It stayed Straight up, perfect needle at 110. Before at the same places before the Radiator Swap, I was running at like 240 and then if it was a real hot day I would overheat and I would have to run the heat in the cabin to make it go down or stop altogether. That is when I realized that I needed a new Radiator. Spread the new about this OEM Mopar HD rad I got cause it's the Shizznit........... .LOL... I have to make some videos and I want to say Thanks, I appreciate that You would like me to post them on your site. That means a lot to me because we are XJ'ers so I appreciate the invite...Will do. BTW I was jest kiddin' about the cardboard. Big Rig Truckers up here get Velcro or snap in covers for the front of their Riggs that fold down from top corner (either side) and connect to the bottom so only a certain amount of air gets trough. Listen, I'm a little bit of a DRY HOLKSTER....its a NY thing but let's get back to why I opened this big dialog that ends with a question: Why were you concerned about whether or not I was running the trans cooler lines back the way they were before I swapped the radiator yesterday because of cold winters? Are you considering that maybe the function of my CPU/ Trans operating temp may cause problems or is it something else. You make me Wonder Admiral ...?... lol

That's awesome that the radiator worked out so well and you can definitely post some stuff on the facebook page. The reason for the trans cooler line question is that the radiator portion actually helps to heat up the transmission to bring it up to its operating temperature. If you bypass that and live in a cold climate, your transmission will have a harder time coming up to temperature in the winter
