Never seen that fad collar break like that before! Nice work! Lol. Maybe some metallurgy issues.

I know you said you don’t want to swap axles but you should check out the dynatrac prorock 44 they can set it up with custom castor when you order it

Beautiful Gladiator and thanks for the show. I’d just fix the fad and carry an extra one just incase. I’d leave it all alone until the warranty runs out and also when more obtainable off the shelf parts come out for the truck that coincide with the onboard computer system. Safe wheeling.

The gladiator has the same problem as the jeep 392 I had a uncontrolled nightmare I was one of the first people to get a tall lift I won’t mention the manufacturers name but they are good reputable company but no one knew at the time and they were lift kits run extremely tall so I was a little over 6 inches of lift on the front it was absolutely impossible to get a pinion angle to work or any driveshaft to work I went through five driveshafts Custom made in one month and prior to installing all the side purchase very expensive 40 inch tires wheels etc. etc. the only thing that would work I had to lower the vehicle to 3 1/2 inches then I had zero issues but I couldn’t run the tires I purchased etc. also during this process the pinion angle cracked the front of my transfer case, And I have been told the 392 is similar, I just recently purchased a 392 and put 4 1/2 inch lift kit on it and I am a little concerned about the pinion angle but the good thing is it’s not full-time four-wheel-drive light to 392 and if you were to disconnect the driveshaft on the 392 you would destroy the transfer case because it has clutches in there that spin and apparently blows out the transfer case if it’s not running full-time four-wheel-drive, I think the answer would be getting custom made axles with proper mounts welded to make up for a proper caster pinion angle I even tried relocation brackets for the control arms nothing worked.

I have RCV and it does switch out that piece with one of their own design.

I would just replace it with another factory axle shaft/FAD in your scenario. If you go the RCV route, it will transfer the weakest point to internal (Ring/Pinion or carrier/locker). You can always carry spare OEM components to swap out on the trail if necessary and not have worry about not being able to get off the trail due to blowing up your differential. Another more expensive option is to go with lower springs, altered flares, ARB locker with 35 spline 1 piece shafts. Best of luck.

Thanks for comments, I have actually just replaced with Dana chrome moly, the same axles used in the "ultimate" series axles, that way like you mentioned, save other components, and still under warranty.

Yeah that's a weak spot, but fixable, I would just get some RCV axles with fad, and call it a day, I've got a 392 extreme recon that I added the fad module, and put RCV axles, I to have 40" tires and 5 inches of lift, and I don't worry about anything, and I'm an idiot in my jeep, all this crap about new axles is just plain misinformation, and the ring and pinion as being a weak spot is misinformation as well, I've been building and wheeling a long time, I've never replaced anything besides ball joints. Good looking jeep bro 👍

did you have a grinding noise when driving due to the broken FAD? I believe my FAD has failed though I think in my case the coupler is just stuck (have service 4wd light & when i jack it up and push front wheels they turn the front drive shaft) BUT have no grinding noise...just some new driveline vibrations > 60 mph 1.5-2k RPM bc its as if I did a FAD delete

How is it covered under warranty
@gladiatoradventures
2 жыл бұрын
The Diesel has a 100k power train warranty. Every dealership may be different in how they see things. My dealership said they have seen a few broken fads, and will replace under warranty. Some Dealers may say, modifications were done, and wont touch it.

@@gladiatoradventures I was under the impression that powertrain was just engine & trans. I think this if it is being warranted falls under the 3/36 b2b warranty

From Jeep.... The powertrain warranty protects parts and labor for the engine components, transmission, axle, and transaxle parts. It provides coverage on front-wheel-drive, rear-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive, and four-wheel-drive vehicles.Dec 21, 2021

Dude you cant run 44 axles on 40 inch tires… 40’s need 1 tons. Dana 44 max size is a 37 mid tire.
