We are a Toyota family, but our 2013 Trailhawk is a guilty pleasure to drive. Has only 48,000 miles kept clean and garaged. It's just like the one you reviewed, but with the 5.7 Hemi and the old Chrysler 65RFE transmission. Not to mention the old 2011-2013 exterior design. My favorite feature is the airbag suspension. It rides absolutely amazing! Not even an old Buick can match it. My least favorite feature is the 65RFE transmission. It is a Dodge truck transmission in a mid-size SUV, which sounds good on paper. However, it's a lazy transmission that shifts slow and ironically doesn't shift gears all that smooth for being slow lol. However, it works, the ATF is bright red, and the fluid is at the correct level at operating temperature. It was a pint low at 1 point and shifted even worse. I topped it off.

After seeing and reading and learning about the WL, I have no regrets at all that I was able to acquire a WK2 the way I wanted it, rather than ending up with the WL. Many traditional features that are part of the design on the WK2, are missing on the WL, taking away many of the things I have come to expect and need on a rugged off roadable vehicle. Family friend of mine in Australia has a 14' Summit Diesel V6, tows a pretty girthy caravan frequently & that thing has never broken down with well over 200,000km/124,000mi of towing being atleast 1/4 of that.

That was fun, thanks (I have an '18 Trailhawk.) A couple of points: You say the transmission is a weak point, but this is the German ZF 8sp, same as in every BMW AT and many other cars and widely praised for its smooth, quick shifts. I believe the 8sp for the six is assembled by FCA/Stellantis under license while the version for the 5.7 is built in Germany by ZF. Also, as I understand it, you identified the muffler/resonators backwards (on the new WL as well). The center one is the (suitcase) muffler while the pair in the back are resonators. (I replaced the suitcase with Magnaflow rounds so I could hear the V8.) Do you think the placement of the catalytic converters would discourage thieves? And, you said Cherokee a couple of times. Cherokee is a completely separate FWD-based vehicle. Thank you. I enjoyed this.

I would argue the oil filter is in a great location. Doesn’t make you suffocate under the car struggling to twist it off. I prefer it over the canister style filters like on my 2.4 I4 Honda honestly.
@TheNetToffee

Due to oil filter location, replace filter before draining the oil oil to prevent oil oil from filter entering an empty engine and mixing with the new oil.

I think the double wishbone works better for an off road capable SUV like this. The Ford explorer still uses a McPherson strut

Being FCA, expect them to keep this platform architecture going on for a long time. Think Dodge Caravan, Dodge Charger and Challenger, Jeep Patriot, Ram Classics,... If they got something that "works" and sells they just keep milking the model.

@@speedkar99 Very true. Keep the production lines that exist- saves money. Make major facelifts. Apply deep discounts. Don't fix what's not broken (Although, with FCA, that doesn't mean much).

Who is the person at Chrysler who keeps saying "Yes lets put the electric vacuum pump for the braking system no where near the booster and add tubing complexity". Vacuum pump placement alone is reason enough not to buy a Chrysler because if they can't do they right what else could possibly be wrong.

Nice use of cast aluminum in the suspension components and that sounded like you were tapping on a stainless steel exhaust. The more popular brands, for people who don't even know where the oil goes, use more pressed steel for a higher profit margin. For example this is the same price point as your other cx9 video. I'm sure Toyota uses the cheap metals too. She is talking with the dealer about an altitude trim there now, which seems like it is the last year of this design.

And about the videos- Too bad your brother is not giving you his old underwear anymore, also please PLEASE when doing the next video slip the phrase: "" and now you can see my neighbors old toothbrush is pointing at the (transfer case for example ) which is xxxx "". and it will be super fun also to use this phrase for the exact unit on each vehicle but always to use different person, like: mailman, delivery guy, or your last uber driver old toothbrush.
