Great idea sliding in the flat board. I have my kit coming from Amazon and was wondering if there was a way without taking the rail out. Cheers 🥃

BoooOoOoOoOoOooOoooo...... Also, that is not a "fuel pressure regulator", but rather a fuel pulsation damper.

Makes me wonder if they make a kit like this for my Jeep lol smart idea cutting slits too. Eff taking the fuel rail out lol

Not sure, it might be worth looking into. Though your engine many never need it. The straight 6 is long enough that certain cylinders ever get air flow over than and the injectors, intake, and exhaust manifolds are right next to each other.

how is this holding up? My '06 wont even start after a long highway drive in the summer until it sits for 30 minutes or so. Im thinking / hoping this is the issue. There is an old piece of foil in the middle large piece, but it looks thin and like its starting to crumble. figured I can replace and then pray / go from there.

I would say give this a shot. It’s holding up very well. I have no issues with it. For you it will be very important that the fuel injectors get covered too. It kind of sounds like the factory insulation that is there is probably on its way out.

Just installed one on these, but pulled the fuel rail and changed injectors to 4 hole ones... Still waiting on new fuel pump, which was the starting point of my adventure. I have had problems restarting when off road, hope this fixes it..

I hope it does too! Heat soak is what this kit mainly helps against. You'll know if you have it because the Jeep will have a hard time starting or wont start when its hot and been sitting for a few minutes, but once the temp under the hood cools a bit the Jeep will start and run fine.

Just installed this myself on my 04 and the main heat shield was a smidge to small. It sits the area correctly by the side closest to the dash wasn't long enough to sit on the bolt that the plastic rail sits on.

@@EmbarkWithMark it's weird to me because the shield itself sits and covers the right parts of the engine, but the part you face towards the engine seems to be cut wrong. As long as it fits, it's sits though

so ive just stumbled on you video and it looks like you made it 4 years ago. ( great video by the way). I would love get some feedback from you now on how the shield held up and if cutting those slits in the shield prevented the shield from working properly. cheers from Australia where is damn hot in the summer

Thank you! No noticable issues from cutting the shield. It's still on and still working. We get pretty hot here in the summers. 120 and hit records of 130 F. Hope it helps!

They should work. If you cut slits into the fuel rail cover than you do not need to remove the injectors or fuel rail.

I don’t see a reason to pull apart a perfectly functioning fuel system, and risk damage to the sensitive parts, in order to install a blanket on the fuel rail.

I have a 92 with 140k - The slits aren’t a big deal. I completely understand. But wrap some heat tape around the the slits and maybe the Velcro, or it might just become a heat blanket, Price now is $52+12 shipping and I cannot cut into it like that like you can after that money. Either way man I subscribed and think it was a great video.

@@xo2963 So, I take it you used this kit on your 1992 4.0L, and it fit OK? I actually emailed the company that makes the kit (Design Engineering Inc.) and asked them if the kit would fit on my 1992 XJ engine (which I'm installing into a Jeep CJ), and they replied "We don't know". Hard to believe they couldn't answer yes/no definitively. Thanks, Tim
