My 1980 Jeep CJ7 has a 1982 4.2L inline six cylinder enging in it. That motor came with a plastic valve cover. I have struggled to get and keep it sealed. This video shows how to swap it out for an aftermarket aluminum valve cover.
I ordered an Omix 83501398K-AL-S from Morris 4x4. What I received was an RT Off-Road RT35004. I do not know if it was miss shipped or if Omix just re-markets the RT Off-Road.
The instructions are a little vague. It talks about drilling and tapping holes, but it doesn't say which ones. I did tap the alignment dowel holes and had to use a bottoming tap since the hole is not very deep.
I did not use the gasket that comes with the valve cover. I ordered the Fel-Pro VS50244R gasket.
