On the tensioner there's a square hole that will except a 3/8s or 1/2 drive ratchet Plus you can use a large crescent wrench to get the fan clutch off. Great video thanks for sharing. ,

I was always thinking about the hose braking. Nice simple modification to a complex issue💪👍

The tube you replaced , that you "dont know why they did that", is the water pump intake. The reason they did it, is there can be a decent amount of suction. If there is a kink or sharp bend in the hose, the suction may cause it to pinch off. Flexible metal tubing would be a better choice, or you can find that exact tube online for about $10. But thanks for upload!

To loosen the belt tensioner just use a 1/2" ratchet in the little square fitting on it. Works a lot better than using that pickle fork.

Im in the middle of doing my water pump now and had to see how ya got the fan off. Thanks for that. Hope youre not offended by this poster... Maybe this will be of some use to someone w/o a fork. If you notice when he pushes down w the pickle fork on that tension arm, straight down from the opening in the fork there is a little square hole. A 1/2 drive pops right in there. Give it a push clockwise and the arm drops down easily to loosen the belt = no bloody knuckles if your bar or whatever slips.

better than most other videos.....I still cannot separate the clutch fan from the pump...even with bigger hammers clamps, bars, etc. ......and location of one fan shroud bolt is inaccessible....engineering and lack of it makes us guys become inventors and say bad words....2004 Jeep Cherokee inline six

+Bill Waldron agree about the shroud bolt. PITA I ended up changing the location. Jr. engineer design for sure !

No its not the actual tool to move that tensioner is a torsion bar with a socket the pickle fork is actually called a ball joint fork but hey it still works

What’s up with the pickle fork! Just use a 1/2” drive into the idler pulley. 3 seconds to take the belt off and super easy to get it back on. My 98 has the idler adjustment bolt and it’s the worst design ever from an engineer!

I cannot get the fan off? I might have made mistake by removing belt first, but i bough belt wrench, and other tools, it will not move. Should I put back the belt and try it? I remember belt wasn't keeping it tight either? Any suggestions please? I wasted my whole Sunday for this, and all I could have done was getting the radiator off and flushing it. Thank you
