I think this is more of a comparison of tires than LSDs.

I commented on the drive systems before in this post, but after watching this again I felt I should mention the hill descent control. The Grand Cherokee driver is not going down the hill correctly. The way to do it is to put it in 4-Lo and first gear, then after getting started, release the brakes completely and let the Jeep's computer control the speed. You can also adjust the speed using throttle and brakes briefly from there and it will try to maintain that speed without sliding.

Your a fucking moron. That was a steep ass grassy hill. Obviously gear down though dipshit , take your foot off the brake on a hill where a slight speed up and brake can send you sliding. 🤣🙌👏 You Jeep nerds are dumb as fuck .

@@goldteethman8720 you fucking idiot. He's talking about Hill Descent Control. It's a feature that maintains the set speed down the hill with no brake or throttle from the driver. Set it and it does it automatically.

There are a lot of misconceptions posted here about these drive systems, especially QDII This is how QD and QDII work. The Grand Cherokee and Commander have the same chassis and are both available with either drive system. In this video the Commander has the better system, QDII. Here is a video of how it works: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kYaj3qKJoZ6XjX4

The commander can't have the qd2 because its a sport model and more than likely has the 3.7 with qt1 and you can tell the grand cherokee is a diesel with qd2 because all the tires are spinning. This climb came down to tires and the commanders were definitely better

@@scottromero4004 Did you even read the title of the video? Where do you see that the XK (Commander) is Sport trim? The wheels on the WK (Grand) are not all spinning, they are being stopped by the brakes, as clearly visible starting around 3:50. That makes it QT I or II and we know which it is because of the title.

@@scottromero4004 No, I own a Grand Cherokee WK with QD II and I know it when I see it working and that is not QD II on the WK. I guess I don't know Jeeps well enough to know which vehicle has which drive by color and shape. Any hints? Obviously the Blue Jeep did better but did it have Drive or Trac?

It was actually black, but that was a Jeep Commander (XK), and that had the Quadra Drive II. The Cherokee had the Quadra Trac II. The way you can tell is when the Commander was on less than four wheels the wheel not making contact wasn't spinning any faster than any of the other wheels. While the Cherokee had wheels spinning like crazy.

However you aren't "stuck" with either Trac or Drive, you can swap them out for the other.

I did a lot of reading on these two systems and it seems the common thing between the two is the transfer case and it's quadra trac in both systems - I think because when you put them in 4Low it locks the transfer case and all wheels get the same torque. I hope to find a hill like the one in this video while I'm out checking out the country - would love to try creeping up it in the jeep.. Back in my 20's, when I was in the Army in TX, I bought a '63 International Scout 4x4, was the first year for them. Had a lot of fun in TX and AZ in that thing.

The Quadra Drive II system ADDS computer control from the ABS SYSTEM. It uses the WHEEL SPEED SENSORS to see how fast the wheels are moving. If it detects one front wheel moving and the other front wheel slower or stopped, it will use a proportioning valve in the ABS system to apply braking to the spinning wheel, so that the power can be transferred over to the wheel which is not moving, in hopes to regain wheel speed on all four speed sensors. It is a superior system. But obviously can be more temperamental due to the added elecrtonics and valving required. But This video clearly shows the difference on the uphill run.

@@Leesherwood I just don't get why people like you comment on things they don't know a sh*t about. Quadra Drive 2 doesn't have anything to do with braking inpuds. It is a far superior system that can apply hydraulically operated diff locks on all three diffs when needed automatically. It's no problem not knowing a sh*t, but then just don't comment...

@@JuJu_Vega Quadradrive 2 still has stability control and DOES use the brakes individually to keep the Jeep pointed in the right direction when offroad or on road. It's a great system that uses the front and rear Varilock axles (only on the rear on later models) in addition to inputs from the brakes to get the job done.

Why does jeeps literature say electronic locking rear differential but your claim is that its hydraulic? Who knows better? Jeep or you? Why jeep of course. So using your own logic, you should not have posted brow beater.
