Just found these. Jeff is a talent second to none and gotta love the humor straight out of Spinal Tap. Sorely missed. Alice Cooper is a perfect interviewer, completely relaxed and knows the industry. Thanks for posting.

Jeff Beck, Les Paul... two of my most favorite guitarists and inventors of almost everything we do today in music. Interviewed by one of my most influential rock stars Alice Cooper! Thank you guys for everything you have done!!!

Jeff I think destroyed his Les Paul on his US tour out of sheer frustration. He lost a few guitars sadly. Such a legend.

how long did this interview go on for, really? because it's brilliant and there are only clips - 2 minutes here, 5 minutes there. i'd love to see the whole thing because it's not just Alice Cooper and Jeff Beck. Alice is soooo sharp and knowledgeable about music and people and everything, he really knows how to dig out what Jeff really thinks - and Jeff just knows so much more than typical rock legend should!

We were sitting around the bar the other day and "best guitarist" discussion came up - and everyone almost immediately agreed - JEFF BECK. Buddy Guy came in second I think (which is ridiculous, because they are different and both the best).

It's almost like they've tried to change history so that Les Paul isn't remembered as a man, but only as a type of guitar. The dude was like Tesla... the man, not the car. Les was the Eddie Van Halen of his day. I thought I was imagining things the first time I heard him -- the guy was shredding back in the '30s on strings that Hendrix and Stevie Ray would have had problems with. He was remarkable.

I believe it's because of the tremolo bar and the location of the knobs made his style of playing possible.

Les Paul built the first multi- track recording machine - built it into a vanity style dresser cabinet that acted as a counsel ! ...... Just think of what that did to the recording business.

Don't matter what it says on the headstock. The guitar sounds as the player makes it sound. People pick up Strats to sound like other people. I've run into more ex-Stratocaster owners who ended up as Whopper Floppers at Burger King. When it came time for these players to move up and develop their own sound they just couldn't break with all the tuitionals they indoctrinated themselves with. Sad.

Jerry Fraker there are a lot of features about aw appeltons guitar that gibson or ted mccarty or whoever improved upon. Have for one thing appeltons guitar looks like a giant semi hollowbody guitar. The body is huge in terms of width and on top if that the cutaway definitely prohibited use of the higher fret register amd the fretboard design wasnt the same as the lp. If anything ted mccarty, les, gibson improved greatly upon appletons design and made it 10x better interms of look, playability, sound, and marketing appeal

I remember seeing Jeff Beck and Les Paul playing together and Les Paul ripped the cord from Beck's guitar. I remember being extremely angry LP had the audacity to do such a cringeworthy and disrespectful thing. He may have been fooling around, but I don't think so.

As Tom Moyer pointed out, it was the playing style of Les Paul that Jeff admired, and was influenced by. That doesn't mean that he was trying to emulate what Les was doing tonally. Les never used a stock Les Paul guitar anyway, everything he played he modified to the hilt. Jeff did use factory stock Les Pauls with the Jeff Beck Group, switching to Stratocasters, the guitar he uses most often today, when he went solo.
