This is a walk through the ins and outs of my live rig that I use with my amplified acoustic guitars. The guitar was recorded direct from my setup with no effects added afterwards.
Hey Jeff, thanks so much for this. We used to come watch you at The Lewisham on Parramatta Road in Sydney and other places like The Cat & Fiddle in Rozelle way back in the mid90's. Thank you for your music!So cool.:-D

You're my guitar hero Jeff, loved your music since the first time I saw you at the National Folk Festival in Canberra; your performance at Thredbo Blues a year later blew me away and I'll never forget shaking your hand. Thanks for being who you are and taking the time to share this and your music.

Unreal! Thanks for sharing this info and putting in the effort to demo it. I don't like to be a pain in the arse and ask about gear at live shows, and your sound is definitely worth knowing about! Easily the best slide sound out there!

Thanks for the video. I've been coming to gigs for years and side-eyeing the pedal board to try and work out what's going on, now I know! I feel the pain of trying to balance an acoustic line with an electric amp. Looks like I need a Sansamp.

Jeff, thank you for sharing. I'm truly inspired by how tight your playing is(on both lap and standard but here I'm talking about lap slide). Makes me wanna keep on practicing! I got into your music when I heard John Butler talking about how you inspired him on his own "sound quest". John Butler inspired me in using two different pick ups and so as you inspired him, you did to me! I live in a country where people speak French and I wish to share a little bit of me culture with y'all and if you were from here, I'd tell you something like, Toé mon homme t'as compris comme qu'ça marche en téka! Which would mean some like "You got it right on sound". Migwetch Keep it up Djeeh

Great video Jeff..... we talked briefly last night at Dust Temple ( about Dylan’s live version of Isis on Rolling thunder ). I listened to the CD’s this am - they are great. Im sure it’s not a new suggestion but can I suggest ( over time ) you look at putting together some teaching videos and maybe develop an online course. You will get a huge following and similar to Patreon, generate income. I would be the first to sign up 👌. You’ve probably heard of Guthrie Trapp, Tim Pearce, Paul Gilbert etc etc etc .... they all seem to be making it work well and generating income from their home studios in between gigs. Anyway, great to hear you last night.🤙

Sounds fantastic, thanks so much for sharing Jeff! So does this mean you've got a 2x mono to 1x stereo Y cable inside the guitar taking each mag pickup to the stereo lead which then splits again into the LS2? So much electronics to comprehend! :-)

Hi Jeff. Love your stuff. Just curious - do you find that is the best position for your Krivo humbucker and if so why?
@Chododolina
10 күн бұрын
@@nicknorthcottfingerstylegu3493 cheers Nick. It’s not what that pickup was designed for really. The Krivo was made to go by the neck on Maccaferri-type jazz guitars, a-la Django Reinhardt. The way I use it is to try and obtain a bright, twangy, almost telecaster-ish sound, hence putting it by the bridge.

Thanks so much for this video Jeff, so darn interesting. Love it. Just wondering, have you used the Seymor Duncan mag Mic? (which is what I've been using for a while as it was a little easier to get than the sunrise at the time. Do you know how the magnetic sounds compare?
@Chododolina
7 жыл бұрын
Kieran Glasgow Mag-Mic is a great option as a stand-alone, single pickup source. With its microphone wound out the magnetic pickup sounds really good, though it has a bit more ultra top end than the Sunrise. Some might prefer that too. I like the Sunrise better but wouldn't be unhappy with either.

very interesting Jeff, thanks for taking the time. Quick question - what tuning are you in for 'South' ?

Padderick Peak "South" is in Open E, capo'd at the 5th fret.

Hi Jeff, Thanks so much for this! Looking to do something similar in the future. Not sure if I missed it but does the Echo Plus output back into the return channel of the Grace?

No, that signal continues on into one of the channels of the passive mixer at the very end of the chain.

You played some amazing fuzz sounds on the record dislocation blues. Which pedal do you use for fuzz?
@Chododolina
3 жыл бұрын
I used a ZVex Fuzz Factory for the more extreme fuzz sounds on that record, and an Orange Kay Fuzztone on the fretless electric solo on Velocity Girl.

Mister Jeff that was incredible. John Butler mentioned your name in a video of his and i was so inspired by the two of you. May i ask you something? how can i use my volume pedal to blend and switch from the acoustic to the overdriven sound? John butler uses a maton stomp box connected to the volume pedal. can you please help me to figure it out?i use an under saddle and a magnetic pickup. it would be awesome if you can give me a tip. thank you in advance.
@GuitarSwedette

In this video, Jeff uses a "modified" BOSS Line Selector Pedal, it looks like an LS-2, to switch between and loop the two magnetic pole pickups, the Sunrise in the sound hole and the KRIVO Djangobucker on the surface at the bridge. The volume pedal is an Ernie Ball MVP, and works in mono, adjusting the signal volume coming from the LS-2 and whatever pedal is in between that and the volume pedal. It's hard to follow the cables, but the volume pedal is probably inserted right before the Sansamp pedal. For what you want to do with two inputs, you could use a stereo/pan volume pedal to "switch" between an A and B signal using the pan function.

that is an incredible sound for an incredible player! Jeff can i ask though does that mean the two magnetics are wired together though and split or the mic and the neck pickup?
@Chododolina
7 жыл бұрын
ONdorch All three are wired separately and summed downstream. Mic has its own output, two magnetic pickups run via Y-cable from 2nd output jack (stereo jack).
