The kind of enthusiasm and good attitude Pilson has must be a huge key for having a long and successful music career

Don Dokken's "Up From The Ashes" was another great "Dokken" album.

The guitar solos on that album were incredible. Billy White and Norum had such different styles but complimented one another very well. The songwriting was very weak, IMO.

Jeff and George both seemingly rank Under Lock & Key as Dokkens pinnacle, personally I think Back for the Attack is by far the best thing any of them did inside or outside of Dokken.

Tooth & Nail is my favorite. I remember hearing "Into the Fire" on the radio. Back then, they never played anything heavier than Van Halen on the radio. I think that album is when they just came into their own. Breaking the Chains was a pretty awful album all around. Then, two years later they release T&N and I was just blown away by Lynch.

I actually love all four studio albums that Dokken did in the 80's including the debut album Breaking The Chains. My favorite is and has always been Tooth And Nail, but Under Lock & Key and Back For The Attack are phenomenal albums as well. Dokken was most likely going to be headliners for the first time if they had made another album after Back For The Attack. It sucks that it didn't happen.

Its funny that Back for the Attack is down played on this interview and honestly was probably their best recorded album. Beautiful recording

That's because that album was pretty much written by Don, which is why it turned out great.

@@trendmassacre8423 im fairly certain Goerge and Jeff wrote those songs in their hotel rooms on tour. I think jeff sang Heaven Sent on the demo

Dokken is a great band. Pilson by all accounts a great guy but sadly producer Tom Werman rarely gets mentioned for his tremendous work with Dokken, Crue , Cheap Trick and Nugent.

According to Werman, hrreally didn't produce the album. He got into fight with George and quit. Jeff produced the majority of the album

the one question that wasnt asked........why TF did 3/4 of Dokken move to Phoenix, Arizona at such a crucial time in Dokken in the 1980's?

I don't know the guy personally,so I really have no place to judge really though, Don sounds very difficult to know..I've known people like this during my life, and I really don't understand Greed..

I'd be curious to know what George, Jeff, and Mick said at the meeting where Don said he wanted to break up the band. Did they fight to keep the band, just stare at their shoes, etc.

Trulysarcastic44 They ultimately went to court so Don couldn't use the name without at least three original members. Don wanted to follow the Whitesnake formula. Meaning he owns the name and has an interchanging lineup. Years later Don bought the name back from the other guys.

According to producer Tom Werner the Dokken problem was George and that George was the influence in the band.

You think they made enough to live the rest of their lives without working? It's too bad because everyone you knew, loved Dokken yet they never headlined.

T&N isn't Dokken, War & Peace isn't Dokken and Lynch Mob isn't Dokken, the original name of the group was Don Dokken and to put it plainly no Don Dokken no Dokken.

Jeff should stop trying to be a lead singer. He doesn't have a distictive voice and he is better suited singing background vocals.

Chuck Park absolutely! His voice is so generic and only suited for demos.
