On May 13, 2022, Jeffrey Ronald Chorba was in a fatal paramotor accident. A gathering of family and friends held a memorial event from September 23-25, 2022, in his honor and memory.
One of the goals of the memorial was to fill the sky of Honesdale, Jeff's hometown, with paramotors... for family, friends, and the community. On Saturday, September 24, 2022, the weather allowed us to fly, and we did indeed fill the sky with paramotors.
This was my first time flying in PA. I was used to flying fairly close to friends while at home in Illinois, and was planning on doing the same in PA. Once in the air, it was a little bumpy for me, but totally flyable. I had a really awesome flight, but I decided it would be best that evening to stay clear of the other pilots, and kind of do my own thing, to fully concentrate on my piloting, and of course watching the amazing beauty of PA.
I'm keeping all the pre-flight footage in, so you can see the activity going on, on the ground. I'm still not a vid editor, so this is the entire flight unedited, about a half-hour of footage.
There were moments where several pilots were doing passes over the lz, and other moments where you can see several pilots flying over the area of Jeff's accident, which wasn't too far from the park where we had launched. I really wanted to fly over the area of Jeff's accident, but I thought it best for my piloting to stick closer to the lz, but I'm glad I did get footage of other pilots flying the area off in the distance.
I had a good launch, could have had a better landing though. Loved flying in PA with great friends in memory of Jeff.
We miss you, Jeff!
