I especially love the life lessons that a painter provides.

Jeff is well known for painting in a "Fechin" style. In fact, he owns Fechin's original easel, which was given to him by Fechin's daughter.

Beautiful painting, great message. It truly is a form of meditation and training the mind to remain focused in the moment.

A very articulate and aware artist, a great pleasure to watch and listen to. Thanks. His videos are definitely on my list of future acquisitions. Lots to see in his work! Besides Fechin, I think of Boldini as well.

Thanks for your thoughtful and lucid comment. Most working and emerging artists never get a chance to study with "successful" artists, like Jeff, and the purpose of our video series of these outstanding artists is to provide insight, inspiration and enlightenment for those needing high-quality information to make further progress themselves, as well as provide a significant payback to the artists being videoed for their contribution.

As the video producer, we are not qualified to answer technical questions about Jeff's painting techniques. Would ask that you direct any questions or comments relating to Mr. Watt's painting techniques to him at his website at "jeffreyrwatts" com

The Fechin pieces that are displayed at the San Diego Museum of Art are smaller in size, which made it more feasible to make each abstract individual brush stroke look like and object or shape. In this video the canvas is so big that it looks like he's doing more 'tiling' then abstraction with his brush strokes? This question shouldn't be offensive since you are suppose to ask questions to understand the technical principles of painting, per Jeff Watts closure statement.

I appreciate your comments, but I didn't hear you make any reference to Nikolai Fechin. I see him in you.

@KevinMccainArtist as a student, I'm not portraying anything greater, I've noted that the Fechin pieces at San Diego museum of Art each paint stroke was broad and abstract to the point only stroke represented an object. I'm seeing a tiling method, and I'm wondering how this contrasts. As learners, I think we're all allowed to question technique, unless it's style, then it's just personal.

@lodathi I see.So, renting was a grey market not allowed by LVP. Thanks.

Excellent, I just bought or 'won' two DVDs off ebay. They look very like copies to me. The cover images look bleached out. The seller only has private listings so I can't see if he sold them before. Gesture Portraits and Gypsy Spirit.

@airfransa You are actually hurting LVP and the artists they represent by renting these DVD's. Please support the artists by purchasing your own copy.
