Just need to point out this is a 20 year old track now. The lyrics are mostly about pollution/politics, and mental health. Basically, he's saying he just wants to be ok, and settle down. But the world around him affects his mental health. This still hits me right in the feels every time I hear it, even after all these years

I use the music of Jehst & Scorzayzee to keep my own mental health balanced. Both powerful artists, and the GOAT from the UK imho.

20 years old and as relevant as ever. Jehst will be timeless while the UK is still a fucked up place, and it's only been getting worse since Blair and Brown's shit plans (opening the door to minor privatisation of the NHS, selling off half our gold reserves, generally out-torying the tories) allowed Cameron to get in easy - and we all know how it's gone since then.. corruption at every turn, underfunding the NHS with aims to privatise larger sections than the previous party in power, cost of living getting worse while the wealth divide widens, xenophobes ignorance being abused to manoeuvre the country into a worse global standing so that a small cohort can profit massively off the sinking pound whilst not having to adhere to the new EU anti-corruption laws... the list goes on.. and it will continue to grow.. Sorry bout the rant haha

I’ve always thought that harp is taken from Lara Croft Tomb Raider where she enters some cave and it pans across it. Also, “between two worlds like the thief at the window” has to be one of the strongest pieces of imagery I’ve ever heard in an song

I fully believe if this dude was born ages ago, he'd be held in the same light as Plato etc. We'd be reading his poetry and philosophies in text books. My favourite Jehst track.

Falling down is a must. Released in 2005 I think. Some of the stuff he is saying sounds like lockdown and the vaccine rollout depending on your viewpoint. The album is also called Falling Down. Every song is amazing

Living in this digital age, these are strange days my rage tamed and freed on the same page I make waves till I wash away the refuge God of the sea, these are the eight moons of Neptune I make moves to refuge, but don’t sleep and walk the streets, with a rose in my teeth and a bittersweet song in my heart, I take heavy steps the hard headed Jehst climbs his own Everest so till the very end, I won’t ever rest I’ll serenade my angel with every breath God sends, your remembrance of lost friends whenever my top ten drops, I’ll know what went on then provokes me to focus ahead close my eyes and get close to the dead I’m the ghost that begs to be released from limbo between two worlds like the thief at the window You can hear it hundreds of times and love it, but once you write it down and read it out, it takes you somewhere else.

Jehsts metaphors and imagery are superior to anyone, past and present, in the UK hiphop world. This song is really quite haunting, I remember listening to this on my minidisc back in the early 00s. Dope track.

I think Jehst is my favourite artist when he’s on a track it always excites me, and when he produces a track it’s hard He was one of the first UKHH artists I came across and generally I’m a huge hip hop fan but not many people lock me in like him I frequently listen to him I never tire of his sound

The ‘I spit red’ line could also relate to the political theme / climate change you picked up on before? Red is the colour that the Left and Labour uses in the UK. I might be reading too much into it, I need to listen a couple more times to understand the bars more. 😅
@JamesFrank99

(adding more to this as I listen properly) The ‘rose in between my teeth’ could also add to this? The Rose is also a sign/logo that the Left and Labour uses in the UK!

I'd say "I spit red" is more literal, "I choke on lead" is relating to pollution
