agreed. while i do miss the notion of the different governors being given the lines to sing as it allows for a more conversational aspect and the fact that they all seem opposed to Jekyll's proposal. but I can also understand that it might get a bit busy trying to do so, and so consolidating them and having the lines sung by Stride, especially a talented vocalist like her, makes sense, even if it does have the danger of making the Board of Governors look like a bunch of store shop mannequins. Having worked in the theater myself, I can also understand how some changes like this have to be accommodated. in addition, i don't get why Stride is singing a key line from Sir Danvers. My only guess is that most of the people chosen were chosen for being strong actors even if they aren't necessarily strong singers. that could be why some of the lines in this scene are given to Madame Stride.

I never imagined an Irish Jekyll but yeah he sells it pretty well, even if his emotional climax here was pretty badly mangled by the random omissions.

I love that this production utilizes different camera positions so that it's not just all stationary and one camera position all the time, and we get close ups of the actors as well as their movements across the stage.

Any special reason Mrs. Stride is saying other Governors' lines? I'd assume it's her talent and/or it being easier that way. Still, everyone's great in this, bravo!

Yeah cuz Stride is supposed to hate Jekyll, isn't he? Why would he encourage Henry's enterprise

And they took out the London version when Jekyll says, "Fool's you fool's! God damn you all!!" But it was monetized to something else.

1. It's a high school musical. 2. It's a Christian high school musical. Relax and enjoy.

I think it was due to it being performed at a religion-based school.

I'm guessing cuz the school is Christian based. the fact that they did this AT ALL is commendable. I mean, good art is good art, and all of them are very talented.

So, I'm assuming Stride isn't a past love interest in this version...?

Harleylover14 It's just as well they lost that angle. In the Broadway revision, Stride's role is basically " help tear Jekyll down at the board meeting, imply being a rival for Emma's affections, then disappear for most of the show only to get offed at the wedding." In older versions, he was revealed to be the benefactor/pimp of the Dregs/Red Rat dive (then explicitly a brothel as well). That angle obviously wasn't going to fly in any school production (let alone one staged by a Christian school).

Great performances. But the attempt at emulating British high society falls down when you can't pronounce Basingstoke. Dammit America.

I dislike this Jekyll personally, the length of his notes are way off compared to the original and my schools performance
