I always try and picture Craig replacing Raya in some scenes because it's hilarious to think about. If he won, he would have been the one getting his skates tied, huggin' that puppy then being swept away by a train of girls on skates.

I mean, there was clearly no question Raya would end up winning, but the thought of a dude in an all-girl group was intriguing to ponder.

+dracula swetra That's the whole point. Raya is not a man-crazy floozy like Kimber. She is flattered by the guy's interest in her, but she has high morals, and will not just give someone her number.

This song seems to me a fairly good Jem and the Holograms' song : The Lyrics are good and the subject is not about Jem and Rio , that's a good thing. It's better the subject is about Raya. It seems to me the music is average and the voices are fairly food. Raya seems to me a little bit a mysterious character in Jem's show. On one hand she is shy , insecure about her talents and a little bit naive. On the other hand she seems to me more clever and more pragmatic than Kimber , Aja and Shanah. And Raya likes a lot the Starlights girls.

+Leonard Euler I think the music is way above average here. Raya does have an air of mystery about her, because her personality isn't as flamboyant and "outrageous" as the other Holograms, but they actually explore her background a lot more than Aja's or Shana's. We actually meet her parents, her brothers etc (although I realize that wasn't possible with Aja and Shana who were foster children).

+Gehan Cooray Concerning shana , we saw her bedroom two times in the series, we saw her relation with Anthony, and a little bit of her personnality in the episod "in Slitches". So even if we didn't see her parents, we know a bit her personnality: she is the most adult of the Holograms .And she is generaly reserved even if she can have a temper if provocated. Concerning Aja, you're absolutely right: we know very few things about her, only in the episod "Out of the Past", we discover she was friend with Rio when she was young and she's a tomboy. And she has an irregular relation with Craig Philipps. So, we know very few about her personality...

+Leonard Euler You're right - we also got a very solid sense of Shana's personality in the 2 "Talent Search" episodes. And in "Mardi Gras", she rebuffs the advances of a guy in New Orleans because she is devoted to Anthony, which also says a lot about her. Kimber and Jem had no such loyalty to guys, so yes, you could say that she is the most "adult" of the Holograms. She is also the most SENSITIVE out of the lot, I think, as she herself admits in this episode ("Scandal"), but that just adds to her complexity. She seems like she is more motherly to the Starlight girls than the other Holograms, who are more like older sisters. It was definitely nice to see that Aja related to Rio as a "tomboy" when she was younger. Her relationship with Craig was definitely not NEARLY as consistent and steady as Shana's relationship with Anthony (which was the most solid relationship on the show). You also see more of Aja's personality in 'Video Wars', where she senses something amiss about Sarah (who is really Clash in disguise), while the other Holograms are oblivious to anything. I think Raya has a much more complex personality than people give her credit for, however. Even though she is usually unassuming and meek, we see how she stands up to Jetta, the Misftis and Eric Raymond at the end of 'The Talent Search' - really letting them have it!!!! This proves that she is more than capable of standing up for herself, her family and her friends when she has to. Also, in 'Beauty and the Rock Promoter', we see what a BRILLIANT ACTRESS she is - completely changing her personality and even her voice/the way she speaks in the role of one of Beauty's wicked sisters. She is more gentle than all the other Holograms, and much more compassionate, but still a force to be reckoned with when need be. :)

+Gehan Cooray Concerning Shana I liked how she resigned of her post because of the silliness of her employer in"Talent Search 2".Shana is a girl who has good principles basically. Concerning Raya, there is another episode she stands up for herself: "The Middle of Nowhere" : she saved Jem and Banny's lives .And she saved the seals too. I think she is intelligent too , for example in the episode "Father's Day" , it was her who had the idea to make as song for Video's father . And in "Aztec Enchaintment", she convinced the other Holograms to follow Paco, which was a good idea because they won the rock video competition at the end.

This song sounds similar to the Allman Brothers Band's song " Straight From My Heart" from 1981, which I just heard/learned about on an oldies countdown this past weekend. I was singing the JEM lyrics over the beat. I call it HE Makes An Impression despite having a different theme.
