Jenna, sorry for your despicable trauma but so glad you've escaped... and with style! Happy healing wishes to you. Paul, Thanks for all you've done for so long. You are legend and have been instrumental in the very dawn of my awakening (before I even knew what that actually was). Great to see you've got a channel - subscribed!

Thank you for sharing your story Jenna. Life does have its ups and downs after leaving and it takes a while to process and understand all the indoctrination that we were subjected to growing up as well as all the evil things we encountered as a JW by the religion itself. You are doing well and it's wonderful that your mother's love for you was greater than her involvement in this cult.

@@Goonapachamoothoo For sure, it's interesting to see what it is to be a critical thinker. Critical thinking is defined as “disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence.”

👀 Oh my God, I can't believe they can get away with asking a young lady such personal questions! Never doubt yourself and never make excuses for their behavior. 😤 It's just breathtaking that this still goes on. I'm 53 years of age and left after been disfellowshipped at the age of 23. I spent four months balling my eyes out at every meeting, trying to get back in. They reinstated after four months after being disfellowshipped, but six months later, I left that fellowship again! Sex in the car park! love it

I was never a JW but was a bible student (& into salsa dancing that time). Based on what I was learning thru the teachings, hearing about how elders operate, I ABSOLUTELY KNEW that my salsa dancing would be a big issue if I were to get baptized. Therefore, I heeded the forewarning & bolted for the door - discontinued studying & stopped attending meetings.

I stuck around until I was thirty two. One of the most depressing things was being the only teenage boy in my Cong. All my friends left leaving me as the dumbass believer. Funny thing is, as I was leaving in my thirties, a few of them were coming back in after doing drugs and screwing up. They came back for stability. They are actually doing better in. Cults work for some people.

I hear what you're saying. I used to say that too. They work for criminals that need that policing, till it doesn't work anymore for them either, or their kids whom suffer because of their parents needing that org and they don't, and get used and abused! I'm so sorry all round!

@@millyday True. But I've also seen people really decline after leaving, looking scruffy and really underclass looking whilst they were clean and presentable as witnesses. I really think some people are better off in cults. That's my view as someone brought up a witness and abused by them.

The first one that reports wrongdoing is only given a lesser sentence if the other consenting partner is on the same "level" ... meaning if the other person has connections among the elders or in Bethel where appeals are decided upon then it is a very unfair process...real life eg both parties were DF'd for immorality...the non reporting party appealed his Dfing to Bethel where he had connections & had his Dfing changed to a public reproof & she had to go thru the Dfing ritual of sitting in the back...noone speaking to her etc while everyone welcomed him back wth open arms... It is such a fucked up organization for many many reasons!!! SO many stories 3 decades worth till I woke up!!!!

Thank you for your story Jenna. For some JW elders you can never be good enough especially when they know about your past. By the way, getting drunk at a birthday party and getting r*aped sets you up to be a poster child for what the JWs like to say about worldly activities leading to “displeasing” Jehovah

Jenna, your story highlights the utter lack of skill that elders have. You were not able to get the help you needed early on or at any time. It seems you have struggled with addiction to sex and they have no clue how to help someone with any addiction. It sounds like you are getting the help you need now and are finding peace. Sorry for the loss of your friend. May you find peace.
