Ortega might have a point. It is subtle. It is not a matter of real confidence, but of expected confidence when talking to girls, so most guys when they talk to women are forced to appear confident otherwise they look bad and are considered "not viable as a man" if they appear insecure. It is not that guys are actually confident (that is why they mention "mansplaning" because a lot of guys are forced to appear as they know stuff even if they don't if they want a chance to be considered "viable as a man"). I have seen countless times guys who are seriously incompetent transforming into super confident dudes when talking to girls but just saying almost nonsense. If that is all what girls see from guys, I understand why they think like that. Girls on the other hand have zero expectancy of appearing competent in society. They could admit not to know 1+1=2 and it is perfectly fine. It is a strange mixture

A lot of definitions have been changed (to fit a narritive in my humble opinion) as of the last two decades. Two off the top of my head. The definition of racism has changed in dictionaries. It's no longer about believing your race is the most superior. The other one being what qualifies as an event as a mass shooting. You can have mass shooting with no deaths. Seems like it's just there to pad the numbers and make things appear to be a bigger issue. That being said, It should hould go without saying; I'm not saying bad situations are justified. However if everyone can't keep up with the changing definition, things will seem more out of proportion to peoples understanding.

Average White Man Confidence? It wasn't my skin color that gave me confidence, it was that I survived Marine Boot Camp (one does not go through Marine Boot Camp, one survives it). That fact gave me the confidence to climb mountains, climb rocks, jump out of perfectly good airplanes, fight men much larger than me (and win), ask out stunningly beautiful women and have the wisdom to pick the right person to work on my car (anything beyond solid state electronics is beyond my reach).
@peterbelanger4094

I don't get any confidence from my skin color either. It's fun doing all that outdoors stuff, but I have to bring lots of sunblock, or wear a shirt. What I do get confidence from is being able to build things, knowing how stuff works, being able to fix stuff. But skin? no, I just get problems from my skin.

Sidenote: the people talking about racism and sexism(as in being victims of it), are the ones inherently being racist and sexist...
