I read most comments and as usual there is always a few who have to make political comments, blaming the democrats, then the insults gets thrown back and forth, then it escalates to the point where Ms Holliday is forgotten. If I remember this presidency, I remember many deaths due to AIDS while Republicans chose to ignore the subject , apparently their reasoning at the time, this was a punishment from God for homosexuality. It was only addressed once , it was known that the virus could infect anyone through tainted blood transfusions putting many hemophiliacs at risk, or many needing transfusions during major surgery or due to loss of blood in critical condition caused by accidents. Many had to die being branded because of their homosexuality. Then, I remember the Iran contra situation. Of course, racist existed just like it still does exist today..But president Reagan may have had his faults like all presidents but not one can match number 45 for narcissism, for avoiding the truth, thinking he was king and to break any law to remain president, not for the love of country but for "himself". He has broken so many laws,we have lost count. He managed to bring out the worst in many who worked for him, even his AG lied for him, his lawyers did the same. I will never understand why they did for a man who only cared about himself and his bank account.The only time he doesn't lie is when he sleeps.

Yeah back then old white people considered her talent Screaming (even today people consider loud high belting to be screaming). The way of singing they were used to hearing a female sing was high soprano soft gentle voices. Women were always supposed to be soft gentle and polite. Only men could sing LOUD. My grandfather hated Ethel Merman, barbra stresand, jennifer, Melba Moore. I think its a white people thing not to appreciate high belting/growling bc it is foreign to them, or they jus jealous
@WarperBlade
7 жыл бұрын
Or maybe because they thought it was ugly? They (i.e. high society at that time) liked gentler, more reserved things. Not saying I don't like it, but it wasn't considered "elegant" to belt loud, gritty, raspy, (sometimes uncontrolled).
@darkfeather6857
