@@JenniferHollidayDreamgirl Please post where you'll be appearing in the NYC area or in the surrounding boroughs. I live in Staten Island and we have a phenomenal Concert Hall located off Bay Street not far from the famous Staten Island Ferry's main dock. That concert Hall has seen the outstanding performances of noted artists like Paul Anka, the late Bobby Rydell, and others. It has an incredible sound system and acustics although with your voice I think you'd blow them out.. When I saw you in "Dream Girls" I was the Music Director for NBC'S then owned Radio Station "97 WYNY-FM" so attending concerts was a part of my responsibilities...as well as establishing a good working relationship with record company reps. It truly was a magical evening BUT...make no mistake here because it was "YOU" who brought the house down...standing a few seats from where you stood in the Aisle..up close you made Broadway history ...your performance.brought chills, tears and hands that were beat red from applauding besides standing ovations well earned. God Bless...keep 'em coming Jennifer. "Brake a Leg" my friend.

Jennifer I have followed you since Dream Girls '82. I have watched most of your interviews, KZitem performances, Unsung...you name it I've seen it. I desperately tried to see you in The Color Purple on Broadway, but your understudy ended up performing instead. I was so disappointed you were not recognized in Dream Girls the movie. Nobody can deliver your signature song like you though many have tried....and are still trying which is amazing to me! Let me just say I am so proud of you and your survival story. Ok...Let's talk about this for a moment: (1) the look!!!!!! This was an astounding look and it's one that screams inner peace, sophistication. Whomever put this look together did so strategically and it really captured the style and mood. (2) the song itself was something straight out of 70s-80s soul music when the field was relevant, and it reminds me of Allyson WIlliams "Just Call My Name" in terms of overall ambience, (3) the voice is very well balanced, and the belting notes are more restrained and it's very pleasant to the ear. The vocal gymnastics are nuanced, and this added to the overall value of the song. We all know that Jennifer can belt and growl mightily, but can she sing without it? The answer was and is a resounding YES AND THEN SOME! I much prefer her singing like this because I can hear the sheer beauty of her instrument. Honestly? She and others such as D'Atra Hicks, Chante Moore, etc. deserve to be back on R&B charts. Nothing against hip-hop, but it's time for this type of music to come back for it is sorely missed. I give this song and video ******* out of 5 stars!
@Dj-ps9ex

Well put 🙌🏽
@feliciasanders2066

She's always been able to sing without the growl! What are you even talking about? Jennifer is one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. She even put out a jazz album, "The Song Is You" around 2014🙄 so to reduce her to just growling is insulting. Her latest release is great and I hope it does well, because r&b desperately needs this because these girls today aren't delivering class, songs or vocals like this anymore.
@b.u.dmusic9424
2 жыл бұрын
@@feliciasanders2066 My critique of Ms. Holliday's performance of this original song was, in my opinion, spot on. I would like you to show me the comment to where I stated that she was not one of the greatest vocalists (regardless of gender) of all time. Yes, she growls in a lot her songs and live performances so this piece was really good to hear because as I have said: I got to hear what she can really do. Honestly? I don't find my statement about her belting and growling insulting at all. Each vocalist has mannerisms that he or she is prone to and it's a testament to her vocal maintenance that she still has her instrument intact. I even stated in my posting that this song is a big win for her and that she deserves her rightful place amongst R&B music along with artists such as D'Atra Hicks, Chante Moore, Miki Howard and the late greats Phyllis Hyman and Vesta Williams. Therefore, I do agree with you that the women, not girls, today aren't delivering class, songs or vocals like this anymore and it's one of the main reasons as to why R&B singing has given away to R&B hip hop. Don't you think that a much better question would be on how do we support artists such as Ms. Holliday and others who sing like this?

Voice is superb. Instrumentation rich. This song promises gold. I listened to the whole thing waiting for resolve, relief from the build up, the tension created in chord choices and arrangement. Got no relief. No sweet meaningful climax. No substance. Just left you on the cliff the song took you to for no reason. An easy fix. So why? Answer: this is done deliberately as an effect. A mind/soul control technique to make listener dissatisfied with Love. Disagree if you will, but all songs are written and produced on more than one level. It’s THE SONGWRITERS SECRET. With resolve in the chord choices the song points to TRUE LOVE WHICH IS GOD ALMIGHTY, THE ARTHOR OF LOVE. Unresolved chord progressions point to unrequited love, satans land, his unreal real estate. Bruno Mars song “Locked Out Of Heaven” is talking about sex. On another level ask yourself who is really locked out? Answer: satan. No access granted anymore. The song is about satan’s grievance against GOD, masquerading as a love song. The key to writing good songs again to warm hearts and touch souls is in returning back to GOD AND GODLY VALUES.

I'm immediately transported back to the 80's. I've been listening to Ms. Holiday since I was a child and now, at 45 years old, she have entertained me with her beautiful style and grace. Today's generation can learn so much from this legend of letting your talent speak for you. She is still amazing and more incredible than she ever was and that voice......who can really replace her beautiful range?! Queen.....you better sing it!

I remember when i was listening to Whitney introduce her rendition "I am changing" - she introduced Jennifer Holiday. She wondered how she was going to be able to pay tribute to Jennifer and her extraordinary talent. And indeed Whitney was right: Jennifer is one of the greatest American female voices. What a comeback with this new piece of music - jazzy, soulful, sophisticated. Bravo Jennifer you did it again

This is really well done. Choreography is professional. Keyboards sound crisp, clean, beautiful. Costumes are appropriate and classy. Jennifer delivers this song with great lyrics, which we don't get that often these days.

The amount of views that this amazing song has gathered is amazing. I first came across Ms. Holliday when I was 13, im now 18, and I am proud to call myself a fan of Ms. Holliday. This song is amazing and i love that youre bringing old school r&b back and staying true to your sound. Me and my family watchef you as Miss Teddy on the Maskef Singer and i knew the voice instantly. My 6 year old sister is now a fan and has asked about you everyday since watching the show and congrats on 1M views for "Im On Your Side". Love you Jennifer❤

i love that she has older actors in her video. Nothing wrong with older people having younger actors than them but this just feels right. because let’s be real, how many young people care for this kind of music (me being a young person)? It’s for the older heads. But if you are a younger person who loves and appreciates this kind of music…. WELCOME TO THE CLUB❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks to the internet and so much crappy sound alike music, she and others are getting fans of all ages. When I was growing up as a kid, we loved younger, older and in between because we loved good music and songs, no matter how old the singer was or how it mature or immature it sounded. A good song is a good song no matter what and I think people are coming back to not limiting their musical appreciation.
