is she extremely oblivious to the fact that her playing a support role in American hustle will result in less payment as oppose to playing a leading role!! this is like common sense in Hollywood the leading actors or actresses always get paid more regardless of the gender. smh
@peytonstanford5532
8 жыл бұрын
It wasn't her supporting role that caused her to make less all the actors get a certain percent of the movies earnings depending on its success in theaters she was a supporting actress in American hustle as was Jeremy Renner but he made a higher percent of of earnings from the movies box office success than JLaw did even though they had very similar amounts of screen time
@Calamityx95

***** In the hunger games she got paid more than her male co-stars and no one gave a shit. wage gap in hollywood is a dumb myth everyone knows its not about the gender its about how famous the actor or actress is, the popular you're the more money you'll get. she's just being greedy and desperate for attention.
@Becsta17
8 жыл бұрын
+Hind Trevelyan Exactly, you even just said it yourself - "it's about how famous you are." Jennifer Lawrence is more famous than Jeremy Renner and a bigger box office draw. That is fact. They were both supporting roles and he got paid more. Why? It makes no sense. Stop acting like she wanted to get paid more than Christian Bale, that is simply not true.

she gets what?? 10-20 million a film now and she's complaining about not being paid enough?? i think people would've gotten behind her if she complained about the women who work behind the scenes for films like costume designers, assistants, writers, directors, etc weren't being paid enough for the work while their male counterparts are regardless of their actual skill level for the job then i think more people would've backed her up about it but she was complaining for female actors that make a significant amount already in hollywood. she comes off as dumb when she said that, kinda makes her a dislikeable and completely out of touch of whats going on with the pay gap and misogynistic practices in the work world.
@dawsonboyle99
7 жыл бұрын
zomaster1 exactly and it all depends on how much the film you star in grosses she doesn't understand how money works Leonardo Dicaprio makes more money than her because he's worth more because his films have grossed way more money than hers what an ungrateful feminist

zomaster, she wasnt complaining about not being paid enough. you didnt even read her essay. she was speaking up for ALL women by pointing out the gender bias that comes with negotiating for salary. youre proving her point by saying she is complaining about money without bothering to actually understand what she is saying.
@dawsonboyle99
7 жыл бұрын
MNico1992 they all have agents who do that
@MNico1992
7 жыл бұрын
Dawson Boyle yes, they have agents, but the agents do what they are told. by her own admission, she told her agents to stop asking for more money because she didnt want to seem spoiled or bratty. this is something guys dont have to worry about because when a man plays hardball in negotiations, he may be seen as tough, whereas when a woman does it, she may be seen as a bitch. this is an issue that affects women in all industries and is one of the contributing factors to the wage gap (many women are scared to ask for a raise). Lawrence wrote her essay and has become outspoken on the issue because by her logic, if such a powerful and well-liked woman such as herself is afraid of what people will think of her if she asks for more money, you KNOW that less powerful, less popular women will be having those same fears. the whole point of her essay was simply to share her own experience and advise other women not to give in to their fears. TL;DR: "Stick up for yourself, demand your worth, and don't worry about what people might think of you."

Why did Jeremy Renner get paid more than her? The movie was also marketed around her popularity acc to Sony's head. Anyways Jennifer was talking about bigger issues and not about herself and moreover she is not complaining at all but objectively pointing out the issues women can be constrained with and how they can take a cue from men.

There is nothing smart about: a) Not understanding supply and demand economics. b) Thinking that "equality" can only be achieved by increasing her wage to that of her male co-stars. We live in a capitalist world. Thinking that the big movie companies are paying more simply for gender bias is crazy. They pay male stars what they do, because that is what it takes to get them to do the movie. This issue has nothing to do with feminism. This is to do with big movie companies trying to gain leverage on male stars, so that they can pay them less than their fair market value.
