He was right on people not being equal but he was far from not being equal with everyone else due to fact he might have been intelligent but his body was far weaker then the rest therefore making him equal and needing those who were stronger to do what he couldn’t.

Im reading Prefessor Mark Mazower's book on the Greek Revolution. From his account Bentham was a wee bit unhinged by the 1820s. However he did open London's first gymn, in Leicester Square.

I visited Jeremy once (his original head wasn't there but in storage; I heard the story that students of UCL -- which you could mention as associated with him -- stole the original head and tossed it about at a pub; I consider that an odd confirmation of 'the greatest happiness' principle). Definitely cool visit but I couldn't say how tall he ended up being. BTW did you say Joseph Priestley or Jason?

I read that Jeremy was brought out for the 100th and 150th anniversary and in 2013 for a college meeting. He probably has attended more meetings then some of the living council members.

It seems he had cognitive dissonance regarding the American Revolution versus the French Revolution. He thought only French people should have self-government but not English people? This is one of the problems of utilitarianism is that if you have a great amount of pleasure from a small group gets from getting rid of a majority that is greater than the displeasure of the majority gone you will end up with one person. It is the weighting factors as we say in engineering optimization that cannot be determined by his moral calculus.

I have noticed that many of the greatest chess prodigies were short and fairly weak looking. I wonder if there is something genetic going on. Fischer was not, and among the current elite, Grischuk is not, and Kramnik is not. The average of 2700+ players is 5' 7". Almost all, if not all of the top players were prodigies, becoming grandmasters before 18. And most of the top are 5' 5" - 5' 7". And I think some of those heights are generous, judging from photos.

I know diagnosing historical figures is questionable, especially when one isn’t a trained psychologist, but nearly every characteristic ascribed to Bentham reminds me of the many people I know with autism spectrum disorder (at the level previously called Asperger syndrome.)
