True, i felt the same back then. Le Banner was out of shape during that time. He was filming "Asterix" movie with Gérard Depardieu and Alan Delon. The production company didnt want him to fight Choi because of the risk getting injured, but french acting legend Delon helped him and he could go to Japan to fight Choi. One year later they met again, and Jerome pulverized Hongman, he beat him up, it was the final tournament 2007. But here in September 2006, Le Banner was out of shape, and Choi was 100% in shape and won it imo. You can give Le Banner the win after 3 rounds. But it was a draw after 3, and Choi clearly won the 4th and final round.

Watched the Hong Man Choi Semmy Schilt fight the other day and I thought Semmy won confortably but Hong got the result. I was really impressed with Hong here and thought he was winning, the barrage in the last round where he caught JLB 3 or 4 times should have sealed the deal, but for reasons I can't fathom the result went with JLB. I'm telling you these judges are rubbish!

No proud about this , i love jerome so much but hong man is a so bad fighter , this man is so tall but he isn't a real or a basic fighter , he isn't a fighter only for be honest , how can he don't use his tall adventage and jab or do something for play with this adventage ? that's basic things but he had 0 skill , just a physic beast like much fighter who sucks and don't love fight but do it for money (from a frenchies , so it's not against lebanner but this fight is a sparring for him! )

It’s not so easy to win by just using your jab against the best fighters in the world, even with a big reach advantage. It’s a skill only the very best master after many years of training. HMC didn’t even train boxing until a few years before this fight, he was a ssireum fighter which is a bit like sumo.
@chrisbach1533
6 ай бұрын
@@iuria1521 True. And he won 2003 the final Championships in Ssireum, which means he was basically the Nr. 1 in the world in this sport at that time. Winning the final championships in Southkorea makes you nr. 1 in this sport since its based in Southkorea. In 2004 he reached the final of the final tournament again, but this time he lost to his long time rival Younghyun Kim. But yeah, Hongman Choi archived many things in K-1 in 2005 to 2007. If he was such a looser like many K-1 fans say or said, it would have been such a shame for world class K-1 fighters like Le Banner, Remy Bonjasky, Semmy Schilt, Badr Hari etc to have such a struggle with him. He had some very good counter skills. I mean officially he defeated the Nr.1 K-1 fighter in 2006 with Schilt. And look what Francis Ngannou did just 10 days ago with Tyson Fury. Yes they didnt give him the win, but he comes from MMA and almost defeated the Nr. 1 ranked heavyweight Boxer in a Boxing match.
