In February, 1967, which may have been about the time of this rare recording, I interviewed Jerry at length, between sets (3, I think) at the Pecan Grove Supper Club in Charlotte, NC. And the Jerry Lee Lewis I remember back then was exactly the same as the Jerry Lee you see in this video. He was congenial, thoughtful, reflecting back over his career (a little over 10 years at that point), He talked about his love of the piano and songs, not just his own but songs old and new from many artists, many genres. One thing he said which I've never forgotten: "This is all I want to do. Keep doing this (playing the piano and entertaining), like Jimmy Durante, until I'm 99 years old." Two days ago Jerry turned 85. Keep on making us feel good with your music, Mr. Lewis, and someday you'll be singing and playing that piano for a heavenly crowd, too.

@@amadeus4841 Thanks for your words and for this almost magical upload. Sorry to say, no photos. I was working for a newspaper which didn't give much space to my interview, The length of interview was due to my own love of his music and my interest in him as a very rare and gifted individual. The first time I heard "Crazy Arms," during Christmas 1956, I immediately went out and bought it on 78 rpm, Bought every Sun release after that, Still have 'em all. He personalized his autograph to me on my copy of "The Great Ball of Fire" EP.

@@johnmontague8330 it's you?? I found this.. "The Center for Southern Folklore on Beale, in addition to its documentary history of the neighborhood, regularly stages exhibits and performances. And a local lawyer named John Montague has spent a fortune - no one seems to know exactly how much, but people shake their heads - gathering musical artifacts and giving them to the Memphis Music & Blues Museum. In fact, he has spent so much since the museum's opening in March, 1990, that the organization recently divided the booty and split into two different operations."
