I grew up and we had nothing. Just the housing project. If you saw a Jerry Lewis movie it made you happy and life didn't suck so much. Thanks Jerry.

When I was about 13 - I saw this on an afternoon TV show- around 1966 - This scene with Jerry actually talking to a puppet as if it were real - MAN OH MAN - it really touched me in my heart ...so sensitive , and emotional - Thank God For Jerry - God Bless Him In all

I still believe that my soft toys will show care for me the way the little puppet does for Jerry. I love Jerry's films because they are a combination of hilarity, surrealism, inventiveness and whimsy, like my artwork, and it's a treat to connect with those things that rarely exist in the world, which is pretty grey.

RIP Jerry Lewis....this scene is proof of what a beautiful artist he was. We don't have performers like this anymore, who take things to lovely levels. God bless him.

One of my favorite scenes in a movie. The way I view this scene as Escapism and a break from work. Sometimes when we often feel down, we all have a place to go escape for an hour from reality. He's in his happy place.

@DewkMosi Mostly, this works because Jerry loved working with pathos; adding little cute, but slightly sad, bits to his movies. This one is Jerry believing in the puppet without questioning it, using his imagination to make the little clown "real".
The Ritts Puppets. They were everywhere in 60s. The last time i remember seeing them was in the early 70's as segment hosts for the Pink Panther show on saturday mornings.

These puppets belonged to a married couple who did puppetry. I the puppets were known as the Ritz (or is it Ritts?) Puppets. This little guy was considered a "throw away puppet" (:() in other words, not very necessary to their puppet show. I love him very much!
