Jerry was a real live wire, a born entertainer, a person you want to watch and be around. And what a guitarist! This clip is nothing compared to the original. Of course, Glen was great, too. But he got worldwide praise and rewards for his efforts; Jerry never really did, although Burt Reynolds did what he could to promote Jerry. In the 1970s, Jerry and Glen were progressive country, spreading happiness and good times. I guess people aren't all bad.

But then progressive country anything was more true to its roots and even rock-a-billy than Nashville ever was. Hence, Jerry Reed in a sense was a lamppost for progressive country if not consciously a part. He was always his own man.

@Margatroid

@@markboland8197 It really is astonishing how bad country music is now. All pop music is terrible now in general, but when you go back and listen to the greats like these guys or Cash and Haggard, it's amazing how honest, personal and worthwhile country was as a genre. I think the real change is in human beings. Fake plastic people make fake plastic music. In order to have musicians like these guys again, we'd have to have men who live the kind of lives they lived, just being human and real. One thing I noticed, watching the Glen Campbell show this was taken from, was how deeply tan and healthy both Campbell and Reed were here. Clearly they both spent a lot of time outside, living real life, not living fake lives on screens. And you can bet they didn't spend all day talking about politics.
