March 15, 2001 - The Detroit Pistons' 2000-2001 offensive gameplan was largely predicated on tossing the ball in Jerry Stackhouse's general direction and letting him go to work. The result: a franchise-best 29.8 points per game average (second in the NBA, behind Allen Iverson's 31.1) and an underwhelming 32-50 record.
Stackhouse's voluminous scoring attack began to crescendo in mid-March, beginning with his 46-point showing in a 125-119 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Two weeks later, Stackhouse set the Pistons single game franchise record when he dropped 57 on the Chicago Bulls.
The 2000-01 season was a grind for the league's top scorers. Iverson and Stackhouse shot just 42 and 40.2 percent from the field, respectively.
