Her leaps are unquestionable. This was a great final and she came out on top. It is strange that the the cleanest tumbling didn't win. The code wants those leaps and turns.

Did you even watch the final? Literally no one had clean landings, but Jessica picks up less deductions in terms of her dance elements (she also doesn't have any spins = less deductions to take!) and also her artistry is heads and shoulders above the rest. She also has a 6.0 D score! So I struggle to see why you think this is a strange win.

It’s not just about ‘steps on landings’, it’s about the artistry requirements, which Jess G excels at compared to other finalists (except Andrade, but she didn’t have a great routine today). 11 fully-qualified FIG judges, who judge elite gymnastics for a living, sat on that panel (none from GB, BTW), including 6 looking at E score alone. Are you seriously suggesting they’re all wrong in their application of the Code, and you’re right?! Give your head a wobble.

@@a_2502 Jordan had some big hops on landing as well, she didn’t land her leaps cleanly and some loss of form in the air in tumbling. Yes, Jessica had some steps on landing but she has difficult tumbles, sky high leaps with clean landings and probably the best artistry and expression amongst any of the other gymnasts which forms a big part of the new code of points

Basically there should've been 4 more tenths off of her first pass but there's limits to how much you can deduct on a single skill. I scored it myself I got exactly an 8.2 e score because of that rule

I am extremely disappointed with the scoring of her routine. I understand the people that said that it was fair, and I would get, if I only had watched this routine alone, why she was given a 14.2. But if they were so harsh with Jordan’s E score, and didn’t even count Rebeca’s memmel turn, why give her the tittle. I love both of the Gadirova twins, but the results were totally absurd, specially considering she’s competing in her home country. Again, all respect to her, and the way this was scored has nothing to do with Jessica herself, this is FIG’s issue.

@Emma Sloan Y’all throw around the word “artistry” as if it’s just made up points based on feelings…it’s not. Judges have a rubric telling them what to deduct if NOT there. Out of all the top gymnast (barring Jade who makes up for it in acro) they don’t have much separation in artistry deductions.

Chest down on every landing and big steps. E score is a bit mystifying, but, even with an appropriate E score, her Difficulty score SHOULD have given her the Gold nonetheless. E score is laughable here given how harshly Rebeca and Jordan were scored.

Neither Rebecca or Jordan danced though. And were rightly penalised under the new code. Hand waving, poses and gestures isn't classed as dancing in the new code. It has to invovle the whole body.

Additionally some may prefer more classical dancing than hip-hop, or jazzy dancing and can be very misleading to athletes resulting in cookie cutter routines with the same dance moves…kind of an oxymoron because if they all dance the same then no one has artistry. Just something to think about

@@matthewplampton955 Even the British commentators were surprised at how harshly especially Jordan was scored. So don't pretend it was all objective - it never is with humans involved, but this was even arbitrary. The differences in scores were huge compared to very similar routines in other finals and in qualifications.

Incorrect! Judges give more marks for artistry and Jessica’s routine has the best artistry. Jordan, Jade and Rebeca don’t get as many marks for artistry as she does so stop being sore losers and think that US deserve everything. Watch the videos back and you’ll see that this routine was actually the best out of all of them.

Jordan has a very good performance, but clearly something judges can potentially take away (1) compulsory: choreography touching the floor (2) elongation (3) original / complex choreography Jordan mainly hit the boxes on expressiveness and musicality, but didn't hit some other boxes

@@cocoroni1031 Jessica was overscored. 0.5 low chest landings (0.3 for Silvias, 0.1 for each of the others), 0.9 for all three landings(0.3 each), her Silvias form was so sloppy - body not tucked during first rotation, body shape, leg separation and flexed feet and that’s only considering one pass. Her ring position - foot was only at her head when it should be above, she also missed her turn on the split by 90 degrees. Even if she had no artistry deductions, her tumbling deductions were not all taken, she was overscored.

I have nothing against her I love her! but she has big landing deductions and compared to the other finalists it should not have been 14.2, and the fact Jordan only got a 13.833 is out of this world. Her routine here was much better than team final however it got almost 0.2 lower?? Congrats to Jessica but the scoring needs to be fixed. Also poor Jenifer I really hope she doesn’t feel disincluded by all of the success from her sister. I’m sure she’s so happy for her but there is an extent to her being over shadowed !

First time in my life I do not agree with scoring… All of a sudden Carey and Chiles got less than 14 whereas Jessica got almost the same scoring than in quals? And there were no major mistakes from neither of them. It is obvious that something is not right. Before I get any criticism I am Italian and not a fan of anybody in particular 😂

I loved the beauty of this routine, but I don't think this routine should have won. Jordan's landings and landing positions were much better. They didn't take an obvious artistry deduction from Jordan, so I don't think "over-rewarding" Jessica's artistry is appropriate. Jessica does start higher, but she ate that start score lead up in her landings alone, and that's without taking any deductions for her chest position/landing positions.

@@fortheloveofcats2462 Jessica was also overscored. 0.5 low chest landings (0.3 for Silvias, 0.1 for each of the others), 0.9 for all three landings(0.3 each), her Silvias form was so sloppy - body not tucked during first rotation, body shape, leg separation and flexed feet and that’s only considering one pass. Her ring position - foot was only at her head when it should be above, she also missed her turn on the split by 90 degrees. Even if she had no artistry deductions, her tumbling deductions were not all taken, she was overscored.

I see where they could have taken off an additional .2 in deductions, but that still would have placed her first. When you're on your home turf, the judges can be a tad lenient. But despite all of that, I think it's an amazing routine and definitely worthy of its placement. Her leaps are on point! That, and she has the energy of an 18 year old! Congrats to Jessica!!

Home turf but NONE OF THE FIG were british who were judging> Make it make sense Gina! You clearly don’t understand how gymnastics judging works under the new Code of Points. It’s not just about ‘steps on landings’, it’s about the artistry requirements, which Jess G excels at compared to other finalists (except Andrade, but she didn’t have a great routine today). 11 fully-qualified FIG judges, who judge elite gymnastics for a living, sat on that panel (none from GB, BTW), including 6 looking at E score alone. Are you seriously suggesting they’re all wrong in their application of the Code, and you’re right?! Give your head a wobble.

I hope Simone Biles compete again and they have competition somewhere on Southeast Asia or in Middle Eastern or Africa... So tired of home country based judging we're losing the sanctity of the sport, medals are given to the highest payer instead of rightful winners... You can say whatever you want but we all know damn well this doesn't deserve an 8.200 E score. Notice she's the ONLY one having 8.1+ E score even though her execution is just as mediocre as everyone else

@@gym_analysis Now go and list all the ARTISTRY DEDUCTIONS she has, if any. Tip, that’s a total of 1.600 points that can be deducted. And once you do it, do the same for Jordan’s and Jade’s routine and you will understand exactly why this girl won even though she’s not that clean in her tumblings.

Guys can we all please chill. Hear me out. In the Tokyo final she had a 5.5 d and got a 14 and no one complained. Now she has 5 more tenths difficulty and the judges specifically required more artistry this time around and she nails it. So yes the executionion in Tokyo was better but she has a half a point more difficultly to make up for it and she was one of the only ones with the artistry in the final. Maybe it was inflated a bit but not a lot. Especially people complaining about her scoring the whole world championships is ridiculous. I agree that on bars and beam she was over scored but the entirety of her floor scores have been correct in my opinion

This is actually something that's bothering me. I personally prefer routines with music I consider catchy, but this is so subjective. Makes it definitely more difficult to judge objectively with something that stirs emotions like music.

Jordan didn’t hit her leaps, especially the first one she did was not good at all. Watch it again and you will see she puts her feet down before completing her turn

@@duranca I think it's a good wake up call to the Careys that benefitted Rebeca. Rebeca needs to lose that Memmel turn, and Jade needs to gain more artistry and try not to take 4 steps after a double tuck.

@@chewiegym2765 Yes, she was spoiled at the NCAA, I think they allow a step back after landing a pass (correct me, if I'm wrong). Nonetheless, bronze in any event is great when returning to elite. She's fortunate the inquiry did not cost her a medal, but I'm happy it got Rebeca on the podium.

@@TheGeographyWatch i'm aware of deductions on jade's artistry and her score evidences it, rebeca didn't have the perfect routine but the same is valid for jessica, who i think did not get proper deductions for low chest and form breaks. still all of 4 deserved a medal i just don't agree with the order

@@omegaaa2012 It’s a tie (in your scenario). Both Jade’s and Jessica’s coaches would appeal and probably Jessica’s E-score would go higher while Jade’s D-score down. There are always inquiries when there is a tie (both Jordan’s and Jade’s coaches appealed when they tied).

I think everyone is forgetting that gymnasts are given big points for artistry and Jess always scores the highest because she has the best artistry. Jordan also had big step and jumps back. When you watch the routines back it is very clear that Jess was the worthy winner

I think the L-Hop fulls (or whatever they're called) get them deductions more than they actually help. I think if they had leaps that weren't leaning over to the side, like those hops appear to be, then their execution would automatically increase.

Copying this from the last post I posted on a video where people were being horrid. I think it's very nasty how people are commenting rudely on videos of gymnasts as soon as they win something. The gymnasts aren't robots, they have feelings, and some people are so blinkered by their own opinions that they don't care that an 18 year old who has just had one of the best nights of her career will read these if she wants to see footage of herself. Forgetting all of the horrid comments about Simone in Tokyo? How is this any better? I hope I never become as horrid as some of the gymternet.

Learn the COP! Jess has 3 passes so she leaves less room for deductions. Landings aren’t everything, I’ve literally never seen Simone stick a landing. She also loses 0 in artistry, unlike some Americans.

Well done to Jess! 🎉 Before anyone posts any horrid comments on here, I'm leaving these rational points here... 1) she is not in charge of judging. 2) she has won two European titles NOT in GB. 3) there is no conspiracy, if there was Jen wouldn't have placed 7th, Joe and Giarnni wouldn't have placed 7th and 8th on pbars, and Joe wouldn't have placed 22nd AA. 4) she still got 1.8 points deducted. 5) don't bully teenagers please. 😊

Like I commented before, Jennifer's E score was only a little lower than Jordan Chiles' E score. Stevie Wonder can see that didn't make sense. Jennifer's D score is too low to get her on the podium, but the judges still helped her out as much as they could....Jessica (and Jen) had great/good routines, but it's quite obvious the judges favored them and didn't score them as harshly as they scored the other gymnasts.

But if the judges fairly deducted Jess' routine, she wouldn't have been on the podium. 1 tumbling pass had a 0.3 hop and a 0.1 low chest. Another had 0.3 hop and a 0.5 low chest. And the other had 0.3 hop. That's 1.4 and we haven't even gotten to the form deductions on the tumbling (bent knees, flexed feet, etc). And some of her leaps here clearly didn't reach 180. I understand the focus on artistry in this COP, but this COP doesn't instruct to turn a blind eye to tumbling deductions. I do feel for her, but people have to speak out against the abhorrent unfair application of the COP at this world championships. It's making a mockery of the sport. It's turning people away supporting or even being interested in watching. When the gold medal is awarded to a routine that is clearly being unfairly favored, it puts into question the integrity of the sport. It hurts everyone.

All the armchair judges not fully reading the new code. She was the only finalist who danced throughout, which gives her such a big edge in the new scoring system (1.2 points on artistry/dance). Judges are no longer rewarding hand waves and hair flicks as dancing, which all the other lead finalists did.
