Dr. Jordan Rogers continues preaching verse-by-verse through The Gospel of John in the second part of a sermon from John 15:1-11 entitled, “Jesus as the True Vine (Part 2).”
John’s purpose in John 15:1-11 is to record Jesus’ exhortation to His disciples that they abide/remain in Him and receive lifegiving spiritual nourishment from Him. To do this, Jesus employs metaphoric language, calling Himself “the true vine”, the Father “the vinedresser”, and His disciples “the branches.” Branches which bear no fruit are removed and destroyed, but branches that bear fruit receive pruning by the Father so they bear more. In this passage we come to see that those who are in Christ will undergo Divine pruning, increase in fruitfulness, experience answered prayer, and will have fullness of joy.
The following is a second sermon from John 15:1-11, and below you will find the video recording and a sermon outline to help you follow along as you watch. I hope this study tool helps you grow in your love for the Lord Jesus and in your obedience to Him.
