Okay, so... Lord of the Rings. Probably the most famous piece of English literature in the fantasy genre. It has magic, wizards, fictitious deities, elves, dwarves, hobbits, goblins, orcs, cursed objects, dragons, wyverns, giant eagles, and more. And yet the author, J.R.R Tolkien, *was a Christian.* Just because you believe in God doesn't mean you are not allowed to enjoy fiction, especially if it's in the fantasy genre. I'm a Christian, and I really liked Harry Potter when I was a kid. My mother is also a Christian, and she has told me that Lord of the Rings is her favorite book series. I myself am an artist, and hope to one day write my own fiction stories as well. Fiction and storytelling, in my opinion, is a gift to the human intellect. When you take that away, you take away the imagination. When you take imagination, you take away the ability to create, to forge new ideas, and to think for oneself. Imagination is literally how all these awesome inventions like cars and computers were made. Imagine living in a world today without any of those. That would very much be the case had it not been for the existence of imagination. You can be a person of faith and also enjoy reading stories about imaginative concepts. It's literally a part of who we are. The ability to imagine is not something people should be deprived of, especially children.

I agree. I'm Muslim and I love anything in the Fantasy genre, whether it's a Disney movie based on a fairytale, a TV show like His Dark Materials, or books like Harry Potter and Children of Blood and Bone My dad is pretty much anti-Harry Potter for religious reasons, yet he's okay with me watching said Disney movies and The Lord of the Rings. Bit ironic, isn't it?

I remember I had a friend's mom always try and tell me that Harry Potter was "satanic" and that the author "worshipped the devil." Now we have people calling this author "transphobic" and we pretend that she has some sort of devilish agenda against people who want to change their sex. These sort of bizarre and irrelevant accusations are puzzling, especially considering she is vehemently hated by the fringes on both the extreme left and the extreme right. And both sides think the other side only is crazy when the fact is that they're both completely devoid of reality. The fact is that JK Rowling is not "satanic" or "transphobic." She's just the author of some rather mediocre novels that happen to have done rather well in the bookstores.
