Doesn't it feel like our world is full of conflict and war? Fake news?
Did you know that out of every country in the world (195), there are only 11 countries that are not currently engaged in some sort of conflict.
Like our world today, back in Jesus’s world, it was jam-packed with conflict too.
•Conflict between nations
•Conflict between religious groups
•Conflict between friends
•Conflict between neighbors
•Conflict within clans and tribes
Back in the day, if you won, if you overcame, if you overpowered, if you were left standing at the end of the day; you were considered blessed because God had shown you favor.
In other words, blessed were the winners.
But then Jesus shows up with a completely different message that flips everything on its head.
Jesus said it’s not blessed to be the winners, but instead, the blessed are the poor in spirit, the meek, those who mourn, those who hunger and thirst for God to make things right.
Taking it even further, Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Today our world blesses the "winners" because the world’s understanding of peace is a bit different than what Jesus thought of peace. We may think we’re making peace when we avoid conflict, but that’s not actual peace-that’s a false peace.
This is the difference between peace-loving and peacemaking.
You can love the idea of peace, but until you take action and actually do something to change the situation, you're not a peacemaker.
Please join us this Thursday at 7:15PM (ish) for some anointed worship, and a simple message called "Peacemaker".
God bless all of you.
