Bruh, why didn't this video come out before my interview? 😩 Plus, today is the last day for the JET Program interviews in the USA. I had my interview last week and it was nothing like what I read online and the video's I watched. I read too many horror stories and was OVER prepared by studying a lot of interview questions. Everthing that I studied for weeks (made a lot of note cards) was not brought up in my interview, not even the basic questions. Nothing was brought up from my SOP. All the questions I got was unexpected and I really didn't know how to answer them. I stumble around a lot with my words. I hesitated and freaked out, still gave answers and kept smiling and apologizing. I was rubbing my hands together all throughout my interview because I already had my hands together to keep me from moving my hands around. My interview was causal and my interviewers were all friendly, but I was still nervous. Before my interview, I was talking to one of the panal interviewers in the bathroom for a little bit about art because I have BFA degree and studied animation. She wasn't my panal interviewer. I also talked with another canidate in the waiting room. After the interview, I chatted with three people together for about 10-15 mins and they were really nice. All three were the JET coordinators. I even spoke some Korean and Mandarin to them and one of them understood my Mandarin. I hope I made good impression before and after my interview. They praised me for coming prepared and early. I came 50 mins early and they saw my application, essay, voucher etc in my art book portfolio that I brought to study.

You definitely need a passport style photo of yourself for the forms. If you have your interview in Atlanta, GA, Phipps tower has "Carter's" across the top, the actual name of the tower is at the bottom of the tower, so harder to see from a distance. I recommend parking at the mall nearby and just walk. Of course, checking things out on Google Maps ahead of time is always a good idea! I tried to give myself two extra hours for traffic/check in at the front desk. I lost some time getting turned around in the city, so it proved helpful. I think I had about 30-45 min and I needed it all to check in, find the floor I was interviewing on (had some issues with my guest tag), sign in on that floor, and then take some time in the waiting room. For the most part, the interview was a good experience. Got stumped a couple times, but even if you prepare a ton, there will be some things you may not have foreseen. Maybe ask someone to look over your application as if they were an employer and note what they might ask about. :) Tofugu's Guide is fantastic!!

That sounded like really good advice. Can you, or have you already, done videos on what it's like to actually do the work? Traveling to Japan, meeting the staff at the school you'll be working at, meeting the students, and doing the work. Housing. What to do about shopping, doctors, travel if you work in a very rural area.

Good question! As far as work is concerned, I have to protect the privacy of the children. I'm working on getting an apartment tour and shopping trip vlog! Stay tuned

@@dedrasensei Yes, sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the staff or kids should appear in the videos. Just curious to hear what it's like to meet them. I am staying tuned.
