Yo really informative video! (You actually beat me to this lmao.) I like the editing. It's really clean. I also did not know about the translation differences for some of the dialogue.
it's cool how they repurposed Piranha's challenge for Combo

Great video. I'm curious specifically as for the reasons for the changes to Combo and Cube's roles and origins. I prefer the idea of them being rudies originating from the U.S scene in universe, just that's quite an alteration, especially done within a few months too.

The MMM one is so lazy. You just know something must have fallen through and someone’s intern had to make something, anything, that or someone just didn’t understand the assignment. The J5 ones look like they were made from stock photos in a press kit or something.

The original one and the latest is Jet Set Radio v1.006 (2000)(Sega)(JP)[!][7MM1] you can get it on waybackmachine. The De La JSR release later, but is older number version. I don´t know why. But both are the same version.

Something I noticed lately when I played dreamcast ntsc version and hd version side by side I noticed that the hd has missing effects like the grind lighting when jumping and the colors are more vibrant and graphics are crisper in the dreamcast and the audio quality is higher.

As a longtime JSR fan I'm not gonna lie I HATE JSR HD and posted my reasoning on the defunct sega forums years ago but I'll post my list of complaints here based off memory (I may not remember everything but I do remember the biggest issues I had and some might see these as nitpicking but I consider it paying respect to the artistic integrity of the original). 1. Faster load times ruin the original artistic flow of the cutscenes: I'll be blunt and say that EVERY cutscene was made with certain artistic choices in terms of music and dialogue timings that the people who worked on the HD version apparently failed to take into account when reducing load times (I don't mind faster loading when it comes to everything else but for the cutscenes, from an artistic perspective that's something I just can't overlook), the biggest and most noticeable one for me is DJ Professor K's first broadcast, compare the HD version to the original and you'll quickly see what I mean (pay attention to the timings of the music and dialogue), also you HAVE to use an original dreamcast disc for this comparison, ripped versions can't be used because ripped versions also ruin this flow although for ripped versions the flow is ruined for the exact opposite reason, because of slower load times not faster. 2. Enemies with weapons attack faster: This may be a placebo effect on my part but I swear the enemies can fire at you more frequently and at a faster rate than the original. 3. Sound issues: This mainly involves the character voices in-game, sometimes the voices are nearly nonexistent (what I mean by that is they're still there but are barely audible) I have no clue how or why that ended up happening. Another one is tracks that actually loop aren't looped correctly, "Grace and Glory" is the perfect example to illustrate this, they simply looped the entire track instead of taking the time to recreate the proper loops as they originally were and as someone very familiar with CRI's ADX format and its versatility when it comes to making loop points this issue annoyed me to no end especially when you consider the fact that methods of getting info for the original loop points for an ADX file have pretty much existed since the DC ripping scene started back in 2000 and are so easy to use even for a complete novice so SEGA had no excuse for half-assing it, not only that but they actually ADDED a loop point for the ending theme, the frigging ending theme the one track that is NOT supposed to be looped for obvious reasons and yet they did it anyway. Did the people who worked on the HD version even PLAY the original or do ANY proper research on certain intricacies and nuances that made JSR the memorable experience that it is? If I was either Kawagoe Takayuki or Masayoshi Kikuchi and I saw JSR HD in that shape before release I would be absolutely PISSED and raising hell at seeing certain artistic choices I made for my game being mutilated the way JSR HD did.

The NYC inspired levels on the Steam version are different in the Soundtrack department. While the NA music is available to listen on the Radio feature they are omitted on the levels themselves. For example the first one (NA ver.) is suppose to open with Dragula it's changed to another track. From what I could research when coming to Steam it had the same issue that Rockstar has with their games, and that is licensee expiring on some songs. However thanks to lazy coding they just change tracks, but never deleted the songs so the record label don't get sued with as little effort as possible (Rockstar dose the same when they can). The tracks they use are part of the original JP set (though at the time I can not remember the exact ones while posting this). This may have been the case in the initial 2012 release, but later on it became that way.

In my original japanese copy of the game, on Bis’ challenge she does paint the grafities. In this video she does not because she does not take the spray can 🤨🤨. Are there different versions inside the same region version?

23:10 I always felt that that level's music was awful and extremely monotonous, even though the level is moderately enjoyable. I just heard the Dunny Boy Williamson song makes the level feel so much better and more upbeat -- the drum instrument makes the level feel like a soft second step after the 1st level. The Spanish type song is so monotonous that it makes you feel stuck and confused.

The US version songs kinda suck to be fair as they don't fit the vibe of the game imo. Rob Zombie's Dragula is just not at all the spirit of the game. SEGA only did this back then to appeal to us western players but you can't beat Naganuma's stuff!
