One of the most stunning parks in Zamboanga City is Paseo Del Mar. Paseo Del Mar is located very close to the historical landmark and National Museum known as Fort Pilar. With an eight arch entrance where there is 24 hour security, it is one of the most popular areas to visit among locals and tourists. The Paseo Del Mar (which means Passage of the Ocean) is similar to the Manila bay walk in Roxas Blvd. and the evening it is lit up by a beautiful sunset as well. This is an ideal place with a great view and good food, where you can leisurely walk along the promenade.
It is facing the Basilan strait so one may see the most breathtaking sunsets in the city as well as a breathtaking view of Basilan and Santa Cruz Islands. If you wish to visit the bigger Santa Cruz island, it is here is Paseo del Mar where you can take ferry boat. Next time, I will take that island adventure.
From Paseo del Mar, one could also observe the city's active port. The park has a number of benches as well as a lengthy promenade that runs along the breakwater or shoreline. When there are tourists in the afternoon, the Bajao children in their bancas paddle along the breakwater pathways and persuade them to toss pennies into the water.
Paseo Del Mar is also known for its several restaurants, cafés and entertainment as well. In the evening, the park is lit up with colorful ornamental lamps, live bands, and food stands. The highlight in the evening is the dancing musical fountain. That will be for my next visit here at night. But for let’s enjoy the peaceful afternoon and the sea breeze in paseo del mar
