The whole of the album is a work of art! Velvet Green, The Whistler etc etc

I saw them in 2005 in Santa Rosa, CA . I was there four hours early and they were practicing. I watched them play velvet green three times. The drums had tee shirts on them so Doane could hear it

The Mighty Tull !!! Such an incredible album. Number 4 for me. Thick as a brick - 3. Passion play - 2. And Minstrel in the Gallery -1. These probably change depending on the mood. Can't go wrong really. Top quality prog. Many thanks Nathan. Great reaction Jana. 😍

The 'Minstrel' album is their most underrated of their catalog. My #2 with "Benefit" well ensconced as #1 since I was a teen (a very long time ago)!!

My top 4 are probably the same most of the time, but the order changes continuously. Throw in This Was, Benefit for a change from time to time, for nostalgic purposes.

I always love hearing the reactions of first time listeners, and Jana's comments mirror my wife's to a tee! She's adorable and a great sport for participating on your show! No way my wife would do it! LOL!!! I'm curious what Jana's reaction would be to "Knots" by Gentle Giant. It was the first prog song I played in my car when we were first dating, just to see how she would react. Let's just say that, to this day, 9 years later, she still cringes if I turn it on. Conversely, she loves "Ripples" and "Blood On the Rooftops" by Genesis. I think I, as well as prog, are still growing on her. Great show as always!! Love your channel! Keep up the fun and great work!! 👍

It would be fun to get Jana's reaction on "Knots" in the future! I'm pretty sure it is on our list. We have done "The Advent of Panurge" in the past and it certainly wasn't one of her favorites, LoL! But it seems she tends to like most of the songs we listen to on the channel, so that is a good sign at least!

@@NathanOnShuffle The Advent of Panurge was the first song I heard by them on a late night FM station when FM was still in its infancy. It blew my mind and I knew I had to have it. The very next song on the radio was "Narcissus" by City Boy. I had never heard either band before, but had both in hand within the week!! If you haven't heard the latter, check them out. Very witty lyrics and easily memorable tunes. Rock with a twist. Think: a harder version of 10cc.

Wacky? I hear you, but incredibly beautiful and wonderful comes to my mind. I mean, "poppies red and roses filled with summer rain" ? come on...that's poetic wondrousness. Like your comment about "Badass flute" !!!

Listen to the whole album. Pibroch is my favorite and I don’t think you will be disappointed. PS. I can play the flute parts-especially the solo- it’s so great! Furthermore, Flying Dutchman from the 79 Stormwatch album also has tremendous flute lines. I will look forward to your review and reactions to these two songs! Please do it for me and all your subscribers! Thanks and appreciate your review of Songs from the Wood!

Nathan, here in Brazil we have a band called Cálix. They are very influenced by Jethro Tull. A song "Dança com Devas" is a fine example.

A singer of these ancient times. With kitchen prose and gutter rhymes. I love Ian!!!! I think this song was my first experience with Progressive rock. Aside from the stuff you hear on the radio. Not a fan of the Wilson remixes
