@@Reply-who-me to each his own, I guess. To me it seemed to have a somber tone fitting to Memorial Day. But sexy is probably the most individual reaction there is, so I certainly can't argue with your take. To me it's the difference between "I don't like carrots," impossible to argue, vs "carrots objectively taste bad and shouldn't be allowed."

This is beautiful. It's up there with Jimi's, and Whitney's versions. Well done young lady.

Beautiful, one of the better versions have heard. It must be gut wrenching for anyone who is in front of thousands of people and sing The National Anthem. Good job Jewel.

It was fine. She didn't change any of the words. She was a little pitchy, but the issues with it are unfounded.

Jewel made it about herself instead of the remembrance if our fallen heroes. There are plenty of times to sing this version. This holiday was the wrong one!

I heard some sort of rumpus about this, like it came off like the Rosie blight.. however I think she did a really interesting interpretation. Different but not too far off the reservation. In many ways the slightly melancholy tone was appropriate as this is Memorial Day weekend.. reflective and a little bit somber.
