The show fought racism by often showing how ridiculous it was. The theme song was about equity. I see that show much like "the black person" song or "the Mexican song" it made fun of racism. I didn't see it as offensive. But white people got picked on too-Jims sketch on vanilla ice was legendary at a time when hip hop was a "black" thing. I saw it as clever humor.

ILC was not “controversial” at the time it was on. Wayans’ fight with network censors wasn’t well-known by the public. At the Emmy’s when Kirsty Ally thanked her husband for giving her “the big one” for last X years, Keenan said the he and the network censors were gonna have a talk after that one! That was first his audience ever heard about fights with the network. More people knew about the fight with the band “Living Color”. All the recurring characters were popular, hence, why they were RECURRING. Carrey didn’t have more than Keenan, Damon, or David. Think, before you post drivel like this click-bait.

I'll be honest, during the time In living color was on tv I never thought he was that funny. I thought Keenen, Jamie, Damon,David, and Tommy were the funniest. I was actually surprised Jim became the standout star. To answer your question, I don't think Jim ever asked anyone to be in his films. On another note, they didn't ask him. During the 90s, a lot of the actors from the show had movies, but most never took off like Jim's films did. I don't know why, I watched their films actually before Jim's films.

Look at the combined talent of the two! Carrey and Farley were the Pinnacle of the shows but you also got: Sandler, Hartmann(EXTREMELY Times 100 underrated!), Carvey, Myers, Spade, Foxx,Damon Wayans, Grier, Rock, etc!
