I once saw Savage wrestle in Irvine, KY. There were about 15 people there, it was crazy! Later we were walking home and he and Elizabeth were sitting on the tailgate of a trucK she was holding two bags of ice on him, one one his neck and one on his left knee and he said hey kids did you all love the show and we just freaked the fuck out, they were really nice

I got to see Randy Savage in his ICW days in Cave-In-Rock, Il. He was the ultimate heel even then. Miss Elizabeth worked for the local news channel. ICW was instrumental in developing my affection for wrestling. I still have the program with autographs.

When i was a kid I only heard of Savage thru the magazines, it wasn't til he came to WWF that I saw him. But then I got a commercial vhs tape a few years later which was basically a best of ICW tape. I loved it. Savage wore the robe, bandanna and was calling himself MACHO MAN WAY before WWF. Their studio set was exactly like the Memphis and Florida Studios. There was a lot of the Memphis style silliness but the actual matches were good. It's sad cause there isn't much of a library that exists of these shows. I hear they used to tape over the same video tape each week so there is not a lot of archived footage. A lot of guys started or made name there, Pez Whatley, One Man Gang, Al Snow(as a jobber), Bob Orton, Ron Garvin etc

I wish Lanny or Randy were still here to discuss how ICW actually worked. It seems like they had a firm understanding of the workings as their dad owned it and they helped with production.

we used to get the station from Paducah KY when I was in college at SIU and we watched it regularly. Savage was Macho Man, always had a snake around his neck and would be shown working out going.oooh Im traaining... Used the term Macho Mania which was changed to Macho Madness in WWF due to Hulkamania. One Man Gang was a country bumpkin looking like Hillbilly Jim and went as Crusher Broomfield, nearly 7 foot tall, nearly five hundred pounds. Remember Leaping Lanny and Ronnie Hands of Stone Garvin. Sadly I dont remmber many more of the wrestlers from there

We moved to Lexington in 1973 so we pretty much saw all the ICW shows from the beginning. Travelled the area. Watched the matches. Amazing work for small crowds. AMAZING. I went with a friend to work out at Sin The Sports Center once and Randy came in. Talk about awe. Then they all went to Banana's. Good times. I think they all lived in a duplex over on Toronto. Angelo on one side and Randy and Lanny on the other. I also remember the Devil's Duo working at the dive shop under IT'S the Levi Place. So long ago now. The folding chair boxing glove that Randy would pound on people. I can still close my eyes and see it. Even midgets needed beware. And the real blood. I can close my eyes and hear the theme music and see the action.

The whole "let's challenge Memphis" thing had done by Garvin & co. after they walked out on Ron Fuller. Garvin and the boys threw down on the Knoxville Southeastern wrestlers. When Knoxville dried up, they hooked up with the Poffos and I'm sure they suggested this to the ICW bookers.
