OUR COUNTRY NEEDS REAL LEADERS ESPECIALLY IN TIMES LIKE THIS OUR COUNTRY IS ABOUT TO FALL TO PIECES. We as AMERICANS need to come together and pray for our country because it needs it more than ever. Trump is an indictment of our public education system, our cost-prohibitive colleges, and our failure to teach high-school students media literacy before we release them into the world. If you graduate 12th grade without the ability to verify the credibility of information sources and properly cite them, you should not be handed a voter registration card and expected to make good choices. If we want to avoid creating an electorate susceptible to fascism, protect democracy and keep the republic, we have to invest our taxpayer dollars less on corporate welfare and more in our schools. This is precisely why Republicans never fail to slash education funding (and have textbooks written in Texas for almost the entire country.) You have to hand it to them--they play the long game. Donald Trump told reporters in 2016 that he "love[s] the uneducated," and not for nothing. Look at who he appointed as Sec'y of Education. We have a lot of work to do, first and foremost that we stop treating the GOP like an opposing political party and more like the crypto-fascist crime syndicate they are. I don't want to hear a word about "reaching across the aisle" or making stupid and disastrous concessions in the name of "healing division." When it comes to the survival of our democracy, division against its enemies is not only justified--it is NECESSARY.

I loved his speech about politicians needing to do their jobs by being brave. dead on. there is a very good reason why a political job is considered very high up there, and is not as publicly accessible as being a lawyer, a writer, a reporter etc... you need very specific abilities that most people do not possess. a lot of people don't attempt a political career, even though they want the country to be led a certain way, because they are responsible enough to know its beyond them. if you become a politician, just as any other job, you take on the responsibilities that the job requires of you. if you fail to deliver, its on you... in some cases more than others. that's why we shouldn't feel sorry for them or forgive them. they are adults who took a very big responsibility, one that pays off quite well, given that you can indeed do your job right. therefore, the consequences of failing should be just as grave.
@Anon54387

The entry barriers to get into politics are lower than just about any other job. The guys who keep our water wells and pumps working take their responsibility more seriously than virtually anyone in Congress. And I'd trust the factory worker in Congress more than a lawyer. At least 25 Americans were killed during protests and political unrest in 2020 Jul. 29, 2020 at 5:01 AM PDT MILWAUKEE (WTMJ/CNN) - As police in Milwaukee search for the person responsible for fatally shooting a Black Trump supporter outside of his business, officials say the community needs to know if the crime was politically motivated. Bernell ‘Ras’ Trammell, 59, was often seen wielding large, handwritten signs with his personal beliefs in big, bold letters. These signs supported George Floyd, police reform and President Donald Trump. He ran “Expressions Journal,” a small publication where he created his signs and publishings. Neighbors say Trammell was sitting in a lawn chair outside the business July 23 when he was fatally shot in broad daylight. On Saturday, his friends gathered to create a memorial. August 27, 2020A retired black police captain fatally shot during looting in St. Louis was passionate about helping young people and would have forgiven those behind the violence on the city's streets, his son says. David Dor n, 77, was killed while responding to an alarm at a pawnshop overnight Monday, St. Louis Police Department announced in a news conference Tuesday. "Throughout the night, we made 25 arrests for various charges. And then there were 55 businesses and counting that were burglarized and had property damage," St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden told reporters. August 25 CNN political analyst Joe Lockhart attacked former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann after his network settled a $250 million defamation lawsuit earlier this year. On Tuesday evening, CNN awkwardly aired Sandmann's speech as part of the second night of the Republican National Convention, where he said his life "changed forever in that one moment" because the "full war machine in the mainstream media revved up into attack mode" while botching its coverage of the 2019 viral confrontation with a Native American elder that had portrayed the Kentucky teen as the aggressor. However, one of Sandmann's loudest critics came from the network that he settled with. Oct 31, 2020 At least 25 Americans were killed during protests and political unrest in 2020.

I have been forced to protest as a teenager multiple times in the last few years but they have always been nonviolent and they have never become riots. I did not like the outcome of the last election four years ago and I was very upset but I never wanted people to get violent over it and they didn't. I have gone to lawfully organized woman's march with signs and pink hats to support and share my beliefs with my right to protest. This was not a protest it was a riot. I have walked out of my classroom for the March For Our Lives walk out right after being in a real lock down were I was not sure I would survive. Although no one was hurt and everything was cleared I had to hide for three hours under a desk, have my backpack searched through by police who yelled at us to put our hands up, and gave us a bucket to pee in if we needed to while they went to the other classrooms. I heard helicopters circling our school and heard police yelling in other classrooms. The sad part is I was relieved when I found out we were the reason for the lock down because I was worried it was my younger brothers who were in trouble. To fear for your life and your family's lives when you are a freshman in high school during class is a horrible feeling while also knowing there is no way out and the only one there to protect you in the room is yourself. Kid's lives are either taken or threatened in schools more than people realize and I am very angry with the government for their lack of aid but even though I went through an experience were I felt my life was in danger and that it was the government's fault none of us kids have ever been violent in our protests. The politicians who were in the building now keep saying that you should never come into work and have your threatened but they are the ones who refuse to help schools with the same issue. They got an inside look of what it feels like to be in a real lock down at school only they had people holding their hands, protected them, and had a safe way out. Even though I resent them for making kids experience this and then whine when they experience a similar event I still do not think those people any right to riot and become violent. I hope you see this James Cordon because I believe this needs to be said and no one is going to listen to an "immature teenager" unless a popular adult backs us up.

We adults are fighting for your lives also. This gun violence aimed at schools is giving the victims a lifetime of PTSD. I am the Mother of a teacher who has to go through " active shooter drills". Nothing could be so cruel. To value unfettered access to guns is more important than human life????? Law and order when it comes to deadly weapons, like other safe Democracies is what America needs. In order to preserve " domestic tranquility", the 2nd Amend needs to be scrapped or changed to " non-lethal" arms. The 2nd Amend was written in the 1780s and says nothing about these high tech modern weapons in a population of 330 million. Thank you for speaking up and we adults are fighting for your lives!

My fiancé and I were discussing how our future children will learn about this and ask us about it. They will want to know where we were and what we did. How we felt. And it was very real that we are living in history so it is important to take in everything. Because it will be white washed. The thought brought me to sobbing because this is so tragic and heavy. So I started to content dump videos about it. Saving news articles. This way we will never forget the terrorists as well as the law makers who supported them.

She frantically emailed me on Wednesday, saying , "What in God's name is going on over there?!!" She is in lock down in Leeds and I am in lock down on our family farm in New Hampshire. We have been trying to comfort and support one another through the Covid ordeal and now this tragedy! I went through Viet Nam, Kennedy being shot and all that. We have to become the America that holds truth, integrity and our Constitution dear. Hopefully the individual states can rally under Biden and pull together to bring back grass roots Down Home America core values. We are trying our best to hold the line here. At this rate, I may never leave the farm! and that may have to be ok...
