@@JAMES79HOWLETT "Stolen?" Why use that word? Why not say "inspired by?" Or "influenced?" Why assume bad intent if there was none?

What a filmography he has. If Ghost Dog we’re his only film, he’d be a legend, but Stranger Than Paradise, Down By Law, Dead Man, Paterson… he’s in the pantheon of greatest American filmmakers without question.

Ghost Dog, Dead Man, Down by Law, and Night on Earth are my favorites from him - pretty much in that order. I also really liked "Only Lovers Left Alive". Anyways, I agree that he's in the pantheon of the American greats. Speaking of America, those first three aforementioned films all highlight aspects of the American experience - albeit the more wild and fantastical.

This movie made me purchase the Hagakure book, read it, and apply it to life as much as possible, where relevant to me. Still watch this movie once a year or so.

The hardest part is finding a Retainer. I thought it could be girlfriend but that isn't right at all. Ironically my retainer became my Pit Bull, as I realize he thought of me as his Retainer, and would also die for me and if I told him to. Of course neither of us needed to die, but someone has to be the retainer. Another series that just released in 2024 that might help shed light on how things worked in Samurai era Japan is Shogun. Its well done and fully budgeted.

"They're all different." And this is why I love Jim Jarmusch and his films. Each film is a Jarmusch picture, but they all have a different story and tone to them.

Saw this film in 2000 in Brixton, SW London (Ritzy/ Picturehouse) Now it’s 24 years later and it’s left a lasting impression since GHOST DOG is such an underrated yet magnificent film.

Sorry for coming off melodramatic but this movie help me not fall down very dark paths in life. Having grown up in amd around wild stuff and not having any real parental figures this movie along with many an anime and martial arts film gave me the ideas that there is always a better way no matter the situation your in. Thank you for this movie as it probly help save my life. Have watched it more times than I can even remember. Proud to listen to ost with me kids....now that I think about it I'd say it's time to watch it with them. Cheers!!

I love this film and telling people to watch it - for it being philosophical, very funny, abstract, surreal and how the films so wonderfully, thanks in some part to good use of music, Ghost Dog's soundtrack But also look into yourself. In your body's DNA are your ancestors and you can learn so much from your inner self - even if you didnt have 'any real parental figures'. That the proof, in that you now have a family around. You won in the end, guided by your inner self :)

One of my favorite films! Because of that film I became a fan of Jim. Thanks to him for giving such a cool take on the samurai philosophy, mixing with the urban culture, hip Hop and mob lifestyle. A cult classic!

It amazes me how many people have never seen this movie - or even heard of it. Forest Whitaker, Bushido, mobsters, 1990s Jersey City, and RZA made the soundtrack... This flick's got _vibes for days._
