Massive control. She so knows how to use air. Her sound is expansive. That is the essence of the flute.

The Carl Vine is very neat - although it reminds me more of Korngold's violin concerto than minimalistic/Glass material per se.

I noticed the first two students had gold headjoints...was this the students choice or a product of recommendation from Jim Walker

Students usually pick their own flutes. Teachers may way in on the process (unless the first two students came from USC or Colburn, Jim would not be their full time teacher), but ultimately students choose what works best for their artistic style/budget.

Actually the first 2 students' headjoints are made of auramite, a mix between silver and gold, keeps the sound of a gold flute reducing the fabrication cost. And you might noticed the platinum headjoint that the 3rd student has :)

The metal each player’s flute is made from depends on a combination of the sound they are looking for and their budget.

@@dgrjazz I have yet to read a study that supports the theory that the type of metal used has an effect on the tone produced, but have read studies that say it doesn’t affect the tone.

If you never heard about real flute tone don’t comment OMG! Most of them covered the whole over half ! The tone was so closed and deathly, almost no dynamic at all !

Incredible, the teacher doesn't play on his own but only at the end with four flutes. Can't hear his own tone!
