We shouldn't forget that the 2018 time was set on a point to point course with a significant tail wind. Technically it wouldn't count if the marathon criteria applied, that is the finish line can be no more than 25% of the distance from the start line, that's why Boston is ineligible for a world record. Also, where was the safety officer on this event? How could they allow a fence to impinge onto the course? That is insane. And then, all those 'hotdog' turns, that course, while flat, is not conducive to a wr attempt. To come within 12sec of breaking the wr under those conditions is incredible.
@donshields2379

I thought Boston was because of the net downhill.
@htmonaro1969
3 жыл бұрын
The reason for the 25% rule is to avoid net down hill courses. I'm certain the wr for the HM could easily be set running down Pikes Peak, but that would fail the 25% rule as well. Ultramarathons don't seem to have the same rules as other 'regular' athletic events. The shoe rule don't apply on the track, for example, and neither does the 25% or even the wind assisted rule, as with the current 100km wr.
