A great innovator . I'm 68 and been a musician all my life .My buddy got $4 for his birthday and I went with him to the record store.He was planning on getting something popular but when we got there I talked him into getting Jimi's first album which had just been released "are you experienced" I had read a little about him in a British teen magazine that we got here in Canada back then. When we put it on , !!!! Game changer lol And his connection with his drummer Mitch Mitchell reminded me of 'Trane with Elvin. Jimi sounded great with anybody but with Mitch it was next level. Jimi 's music was a quantum leap forward back then.

Would love to hear more of uncle teds take on jimi.... ted was your age when Hendrix exploded.... music world had never seen anything like him... he was actually divisive in a way because of the inability to define or classify him. He didn’t want that but it comes with being how singular he was.... people who saw all that as your uncle can give testament to that unique talent and his impact.

Hendrix also did the tonight show, with flip Wilson as guest host. Never saw the footage, but i have heard the audio. About a minute in, the amp he was provided gave up, and they had to get another, and whatever it was, it was totally inadequate, could barely hear him.

Jimi is the man! More Hendrix! I know his stuff isn't that available on KZitem, or its copyrighted and gets blocked, but you can do the Star Spangled Banner and Voodoo Child from Woodstock. And I'd seriously recommend the live, Anti war epic Machine Gun off the Band of Gypsys album. 12 minutes of heavy guitar pyrotechnics , the emotion is fabulous. 1-1-1970 live at the Fillmore East. A few people on KZitem have reacted and it wasn't blocked. Love your channel man, you are a serious, open minded music lover just as I consider myself to be. ✌

@vlada
4 жыл бұрын
SRV was of your time, so nothing uncommon for a cover to be beloved as much as original but SRV fans generally all know who Jimi is. Besides, Jimi's version of All Along The Watchtower is my favorite, over Bob Dylan's. (Or Joe Cockers version over the peppy version With A Little Help From Friends) The genius of one does not take away from the originators creation or talent. IF anything, SRV and other blues guitarists have helped keep Jimi's music alive and now this generation of young kids like Marcus King and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram are carrying that torch. As long as a new generation learns his songs, his memory will live on.
@vlada

Btw, search for young Kingfish playing Hey Joe about 3yrs ago when he was still a teen (there are many different versions of him playing it....many, many). I remember when my buddy made me listen to his video 3yrs ago thinking that this is why Hendrix music will live on. 🎸

One of the most embarrassing interviews I've ever seen Jimi do.. I came back to hear the Ampeg flip-top porto flex amp, to see if it looked like my B-12X, or if it was a B-15N (bass amp)?? Mine is plugged in right now, with my 1997 Hendrix Tribute guitar, a mirror image of the guitar he's playing here.. (I modded the guitar with bigger frets, but otherwise the same, and no - I don't sound close to Jimi, only SRV could do that!)......

Um, I have to disagree with you a bit. It's not a myth, or an urban legend. It's the truth. All those musicians mentioned did die at the age of 27. Along with Robert Johnson, Rudy Lewis, Alan Wilson, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, and Amy Winehouse to name but a few. It's a great version I prefer the acoustic one better, it's haunting. I would like you to review Jimi's Machine Gun. That is Jimi's grand opus.
