Jimmie is an awesome player the talent the two brother's had. Jimmie used to yell at Stevie to put his guitar down when he was a kid.

I thought I’d seen all versions of Six Strings posted on YT, but this is my first time seeing this…my favorite version is still the stark acoustic version on Jimmie’s fantastic Strange Pleasure album, but this is excellent too, with his Tilt-a-Whirl Band. (The group version on the ACL tribute is on a whole other level, just for what that occasion meant.)

He has to be a strong man to be able to sing about his brother's death without breaking down and losing it..

Oh, he's lost it a few times during performances and interviews. Saw an interview just a year or so ago where they were discussing Stevie's birthday coming up shortly. Jimmie was doing best not to cry. He was barely sober when Stevie died. I was surprised he didn't fall off the wagon. He's said once that he tried to pretend he was okay and just moving on in life...like everyone wanted to hear...but he couldn't do it anymore. He's never gotten over Stevie dying and never will.

@@xenoscoot In The Jimmie Vaughn Story box set is a booklet that includes a very moving reflection written by Jimmie about Stevie and the impact Stevie’s death has had on him. He writes about how his sobriety was tested but that, ultimately, he felt a responsibility to both their mother and to Stevie’s memory to keep it together. (Btw, that career-spanning box set is revelatory if you’re not familiar with the scope of his recorded work.)
