OMG you did it 😂 this is also bringing tears to my eyes. My little baby boy turned 18 yesterday and also got his drivers license the same day. And this is the very advice I’ve always given him- hold your head up high, don’t be afraid of the dark, and walk on! 😭

Funny you mentioned Righteous Brothers, these two have also sung You've Lost That Loving Feeling in the past. Singing runs deep in the family Jimmy, David, Mahalia and all the family regularly got together and posted them selves singing together over Covid lock downs to entertain everyone in Australia who tuned in.

Jeff, I remember learning of David when he was a young adult, because one, he could sing, and two (I don't think the general public knew until this time either) that he was Jimmy's son from another relationship. David was raised by his mother and her grandparents. David didn't know Jimmy was his father until he was nine or ten. In fact, until he was nine, he was told his mother was his sister, and he thought Jimmy was a family friend. Jimmy has said the biggest mistake of his life was abandoning his son, Jimmy was just 16 at the time, and thought he couldn't be a father to David. So this song and performance have even more the meaning and significance.

This was so special to see with Jimmy and his son David I don’t think anyone in Australia had dry eye watching this on Christmas Eve at Carols by Candlelight.. on another note you need to watch John Farnham sing this also at Carols in 1991 he sings 2 songs the first one is Mary’s Boy Child and then You Never Walk Alone. I’ll tell you, you will be left speechless and emotional it’s just phenomenal I play it every Christmas, the sad part is that they should of recorded this rendition of him singing this with his backup singers ..But we are lucky we have it on here to watch. If you don’t want to listen to the first song just forward it to around 4.15 and start from there. 🧐🥰 Click on the link below to watch it.. kzitem.info/news/bejne/sWiqn4uGcoOGlpwsi=ojq1mn4Gpc2Cj3ub

As far as I'm concerned, you can stop to comment, or go back for another listen, as often as you like, shows how much you're really enjoying it and surely that's the whole point. We've mostly all heard it before anyway. Their voices just blend together so well and that special moment near the end.. well, if that doesn't get you, nothing will, right? Thanks for this Jeff, just awesome. ❤

Hi Jeff…. I’m glad you’ve seen the likeness of David to his Dad. Jimmy’s Band did a song called Choir Girl, and in the official version I think this is when Jimmy looks the most like David. Just to let you know that whilst I love the song, it is about abortion so a touch controversial. David has done some broadway in the past. Jimmy can sing more rock, country, soul and blues. I see George has suggested A Change is Gonna Come (cover song). Jimmy’s first solo album was called Bodyswerve. As well as that song, I’d recommend Daylight and Thick Skinned. The whole 1984 live concert is available on You Tube on a page by Casey Cooper of which I have subscribed. He has a full Chisel concert from 1978 Live ABC (Australian TV channel), but in saying that no one has been blocked yet from reviewing any. My favourites from that concert would be One Long Day and Shipping Steel which is a song for Truck Drivers, it Truckies as we call them here. Loving your Jimmy reactions.

Occasional Outlaw - don’t worry about stopping and starting the vid and replaying it - I and probably others have done that a few times. And I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched it. This was at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, outdoor event as u know it’s summer at Christmas time here. I watch it on TV every single year. I’ve been there, saw Paul McCartney and Wings, and a few ballets and other shows there. I’m off track again , I’d talk underwater just like my darling dad used to 😂. A wonderfull special review of the Barnes Boys. I call Jimmy’s all singing family, The Aussie Von Trapp family lol I’ll shhhhhoosh now 🤐😂

Hi Jeff. Jimmy Barnes has a son called David Campbell and Jimmy's brother's name is John Swan. Jimmy wasn't married to David's mother. They were young. David took his mother's family name. Jimmy Barnes was born James Swan, he changed his name to Barnes out of respect for his step father Reg Barnes. I myself have a different last name to my father and my mother. But my story is nowhere near as interesting as Jimmy's family. Beautiful choice Jeff.
