@KCFlyer2
3 жыл бұрын
@@fluffyotter1601 you know...I'm a liberal so I tend to agree with him when it comes to Republicans, but I like his music. And even though I'm a liberal, I still enjoy a good chicken sandwich, and Chik Fil A is still the best, despite what my liberal friends tell me. And even though I'm a liberal, I liked Ellen Degeneres, even AFTER she went to a baseball game with GW Bush and my fellow liberals vilified her. You should stop worrying about politics in everything - life is so much better. He had these views the whole damn time you liked him, but when he spoke out about Trump, you give it up. Even if I was a die hard Republican, I'd pay to see a Jimmy Buffett concert over the chance to attend one of Trump's "ramblin rallies" for free. For years you've found enjoyment in his music, but you'll forfeit that happiness for Donald Trump.

@KCFlyer2 I am in agreement with you regarding the fact that it shouldn't matter what a musician's politics are. If you like their music, who CARES what their politics are? And, the truth is, over 90% of all musicians are liberals. If I decided I wasn't going to listen to a musician's music because they were liberal, I'd have NO ONE to listen to. That being said, I completely, disagree with your bringing Donald Trump in the discussion. It did nothing to bolster your argument and, therefore, was 100% unnecessary. Seriously. I am convinced that nearly everyone on the left spend large portions of each and every day obsessing & raging over Donald Trump. It's truly peculiar to me. Bottom line, I agree with your overall point.

Jimmy was soaking up his tears with that $30 million/year down at the end. My first experience seeing Jimmy Buffett was an early 70s show where he opened up for a pianist named Billy Joel in the Jacksonville University gym. During "God's Own Drunk" when he gets to the line "and that's when I first saw the bear" somebody in a bear suit ran out onstage. Jimmy was laughing so hard he stopped playing the song until he could compose himself. Buffett and Joel both hit it big a few years later. On a side note, I bought the A1A album solely for the cover without having heard a single note from it. That just looked like the perfect life.

My wife and I went on our 3rd date to one of his concerts in 1989. We"re still together and have 3 children. We've been to many of his concerts since. We will miss them. Our condolences go out to his family and all of the others that will miss him as we will. Our middle son is in rough shape, he's 30. He did it his way. He had more fans that most. His music let us have a vacation for a couple of hours. He was true. RIP Jimmy. I know you found that lost shaker of salt.

I fell in love with his music early and stayed right there. Read his books like “A pirate turns 40, then 50 and then 60. I loved his PBY flying boat!

He was just ahead of his time. Then there came a time when feeling good was never more important and he was the top of the game on feeling good. Thank you Jimmy for being part of my life and my feeling good! I lived in Key West for awhile too. Gonna miss your smile!

Jimmy Buffett music has been the sound track of my life. At home in Florida, and all around the world, Jimmy has been with me, at first on records, then on cassettes, CDs, thumb drives, and my guitar. A bottle of rum and Jimmy Buffett music IS a party!

Jimmy Buffett took his fans to happy places for so many years. His concerts were 2-3hrs of pure joy. What a gift he gave to all of us. I hope he’s being rewarded for all that happiness with eternal happiness of his own now. God bless you, Jimmy. Thanks for all the amazing memories. Your music will live on.

Jimmy had the ability to make people happy. His always present smile was contagious. He was a much better songwriter than even he acknowledged. Jimmy touched our hearts and souls. He made live easier to bear. A very unassuming man who made generations of people's lives just a little easier to bear. Sail on Jimmy. We will miss you but you will always be in our hearts and certainly always on our playlists. We love you man!!!!

I literally had every one of his albums - many times over - as I played them to death. Havana Daydreamin' is one that you'd NEVER get tired of, and I also LOVED Floridays, which is a bit different. He started a whole genre of music. Confirmed proud Parrot Head here! RIP my friend.

July 2020, awaiting a fix for this COVID thing and just found this JB interview made many, many, many years ago and I'm reminded why Jimmy was/is so popular, as they say he takes our minds to a place we would love to go and be BUT somewhere around the end of Margaritaville we realize that just isn't possible, we have to face reality BUT for 3 or so minutes we can go to that place in our minds. The fact Jimmy's so successful in business pleases us tremendously,, Jimmy Buffett deserves that. His music has that calypso beat that is easy to listen to and even easier to dance to no matter our skill. Thank YOU Jimmy Buffett, you're a good friend to the world.

He was one of my family’s favorites and he died of the same cancer as my dad who was taken away after it spread to his brain. Jimmy seems like family. DEAR LORD HOW I MISS THEM BOTH!! I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO KEEP HONORING HIM WHEN I GET TO GULF SHORES AND WE ALWAYS SAVE UP TO GO TO LULU’s! That we will save up to go to no matter what. Love you Jimmy and Pop- miss you both!

I don't know how anyone could possibly dislike Jimmy's music. He was so unique, and his music captured the Florida beach attitude perfectly, to me, and obviously, for many others. I was raised in the Bahamas, and Florida, and the first time I heard steel drum in one his tunes back in the 70s I took notice and have been a parrothead ever since. I was shocked and sad when they said he went. His attitude and tunes will live on. RIP Jimmy 😢 🫡 Hope to see you again...

Went to my first concert of his in nashville last year! I'm 25 my parents raised me right. Anytime we go to the beach or wish we were there we are jamming to jimmy. My husband wasn't a big jimmy buffet fan until we went to his concert and now he'll even tell you it was the most fun, best concert ever!
