This song inspired my solo safari trip to Kenya for my birthday. Best. Adventure. Ever! Thanks Jimmy!

Sublime lyrical talent displayed in, On the Far Side of the World, combining the novelist detail, and roguish charm of Mark Twain, with the evocative sounds and alchemical harmonies that transport us in our mind and heart to a serene, golden sunset along the Atlantic coast, giving us an overflowing wave of heartfelt joy as we rejoice in the light rays of Ralph Waldo Emerson's blissfully described Oversoul. The divine energy-infused waves of sunset light showcase as well the beauty of Ralph Waldo Emerson's celebrated quotation: "..the universe is the bride of the soul...", and beckon us all in this world of tribulation with hope and perseverance for Jimmy's "...better days."

One of Jimmy's early (and I mean really early) releases was "Saxophones", where as a poor singer he lamented the lack of a more sophisticated back up band (If we had Saxophones). Fast forward a few decades and the horns arrived.

It’s interesting to see some songs that would make it to the album in these preliminary forms. Those songs being Savannah Fare You Well, Altered Boy, and Last Man Standing

Buffett sings about it, and I have lived his songs. From carousing across the world as a merchant mariner, to sailing the Gulf of Mexico, to swapping lies with Captain Tony, to swilling rum in hole-in-the-wall waterfront saloons. But some how, he has ended up a jet set millionaire, while I have ended up an old man who doesn't know when to stop. Sometimes i wonder which of us got the better deal.

tom jackson Tom I can relate to each word you typed! I myself went to sea. Born and raised here in Pensacola. Took retirement from MSC =Military Sealift Command After 20 years left as a Relief Captain. Then after doing nothing except chase gals here along the Northern Shores of the Gulf Of Mexico, I went to work for Marathon Oil Company. Retired 9 months ago. As VP over the HSE Department. Rocky Mountain Division. Traveled 48 different countries. God only knows how many different port-a-calls. Sooooooo many different girlfriends in so many different ports. Brings out the “Don Blanding Poet “ in me as I type this.

At 4:50 the pic of the GPS shows 0 00.1N and the next frame shows 0 00.0S...crossing the equator, changing hemispheres (changes in latitudes, indeed). Longitude of 38 11.5E is in central Kenya. Yes, it could be faked, but much easier to photograph the real thing.

Said the blind man! lol! That's cool, I can respect your views. Though I do take umbrage with the reference to "toadie" and "brown-noser". Never have been either.

JB is the real deal. I almost met him one time. We had landed on Marthas Vinyard around 2AM to do a Medivac. Our pilots, busy with paperwork in the FPO sent him out to check out our plane while we were waiting for the ambulance to arrive. I had my head up the tail end of our plane changing out the drogue chute and the other crew were busy and did not recognize him. He is very wisely wasting the money we spend on his music.

Anyone who says that any artist has no "clinkers" is just a "toadie" (or a "brown-noser"), even JB has some stuff he could have done better (this isn't one of 'em), and I'm a "parrot-head" from way back !!! Sorry "Lionheart", however I call 'em like I see 'em!
