He’s a legend. He definitely gets a big upvote from me. For those interested in a better vocal performance from him of this song, check out his 1985 version from the baseball playoffs. Voices don’t stay the same over time... but who cares, it’s great when we have entertainers like him still going on tour making us smile again and again. And he is certainly a GREAT entertainer!

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy! Just love the man, he is a true original and has been entertaining people for 40 years! Who else can boast of that? Who else can boast of having written books that made the Best Sellers book list for fiction, non fiction and autobiography, a distinction held by only 5 other authors. His song Margaritaville is reported to be played every minute of every day somewhere on the planet. Now he has fulfilled his wish to sing the National Anthem before a football game. He is 72 years old, and is probably the happiest man alive. God Bless Jimmy Buffett!!!

Proud that "Bubba" (what Jimmy's bandmates call him) kept this most difficult song within his range and didn't try to be cute with vocal ear-candy embellishments, like SO many attempt, much to their chagrin. Yes, he's solidly in his 70's and his singing chops aren't what they used to be (like me), but he is FAR from being embarrassing on a microphone. Just give him a thirty song set list of material he's more familiar with and watch him go to work! He's never been known as an excellent singer, but he used to be a quite strong one. He's a damn good song writer who has given untold millions inspiration for over 50 years. Just read his lyrics to "He Went to Paris" or "The Captain and the Kid" or "One Particular Harbour" to see the people and places Buffett can take you to and entertain you with while you're there. Check out his book of short stories, "Tales from Margaritaville" for some fine examples by a master of short tales, Jimmy Buffett's strength. "Bubba" earned the right to represent his team, and he delivered.

@Ocean Reef TracNcare Tablets Yep, Willie made that video (not an essay) back in 2014, the sweet song sung with imagery of the devastation caused by ripping the tops off mountains to get at the coal under them. "Award-winning country singer-songwriter Willie Nelson is joining the fight against mountaintop removal - a surface mining practice that involves clearing, blasting and processing mountaintops or ridge lines for coal. This rendition of “America the Beautiful” from Nelson and the Natural Resources Defense Council begins like any other patriotic tribute to the American landscape, but soon takes a dramatic turn. Images of cleared forests, blasting mountains and creeping coal sludge provide a sharp contrast to the song’s lyrics, and highlight how devastating this practice is to the Appalachian communities and ecosystems." ( www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/25/willie-nelson-america-the-beautiful_n_5028386.html ) I participated back in the early 90's in a protest group to keep gibsite mining that stripped the tops off mountains and hills in my community. These companies rape the land, level it back with bulldozers, plant grass, and think they've done no harm. Entire mountain range profiles have been altered (lowered) with this, not to mention the ecological damage that lingers for generations.

Mike Upchurch also, let us mention the flooding this causes the communities in the valleys as creeks rise into homes bc grass doesn’t absorb rain as those mountain tops and rooted trees did. I’m a coal miners daughter from WV, but Dad was a UMWA miner who took the man trip UNDERGROUND from the sixties through eighties, retiring around the time the union voted in a lawyer as president and divided; selective strikes, lay offs, union mine shut downs and running non union coal through union tiples? No mountain top removal yet in late eighties when my ex and I left the state. Now: it’s also a right to work Republican state. I left but it was already changing and I wouldn’t. Mom and Dad are already with Jesus, and have been for several years. I’m not against coal, as Dad made a good living for us. I AM against mountain top removal and strip mining. There’s always a right way of doing things, and ways of avoiding it. Smh. Jimmy did GREAT! He never disappoints me. Happy to hear his voice any time lol. Sorry that wasn’t first as you found my sore spot obviously haha. 🤣 Lord I’m still a piece of work!😊👍
