You gotta admire a man that looked like him, he made a great career, sang great songs with pathos and humour, had his own tv show, my god can you imagine this happening today?, what’s happened to us,?, the more we progress the more we fall behind.

Jimmy and his second wife adopted their daughter CeCe in 1961 so he was about 67 years old. During the adoption proceedings, someone raised an objection based upon Jimmy's age at the time. Supposedly, the judge said: "Mr. Durante, I've heard you sing "Young at Heart" and I believe you. Adoption granted." Love this true story and wanted to share it.

We concluded my mom's funeral service with this video today - she was 107 when she passed away Dec 26th, 2014. The lyrics fit perfectly except she bested Jimmy's "one hundred and five" by two more years. Helen Williams of Gower, MO. Born October 26, 1907. Introduced a whole lot of great and great grandkids to the old vaudevillian, Jimmy Durante. The video was a perfect fit.

Many stars of this era came out of Vaudeville entertainment, where you had to be funny, good, or have some sort of skill like dancing or playing an instrument. TV didn't exist yet. Movies were still in their infancy. You actually had to get off your duff to see these people in person. Good looks helped, but they weren't going to put you over the top. Jimmy was for real! Not smug and full of himself like so many of the morons that pose as entertainers these days. Now, its all about their overdosing, abusing their partners, flashing their tits and twats (remember Britney Spears getting out of the car), or going through rehab...for the 10th time. Great role models, huh? Some things truly WERE better when Jimmy walked the Earth. Self-respect and one's dignity actually meant something back then. God save us from the filth of this corrupt world. I think all of the possible interpretations were well put. I'm thinking that what he means in relation to the song is that we get to involved in the little detales and miss the big picture. People worry about what pen to write with before they even learn to right. Taking one day at a time and not letting worries get in the way of accomplishing our dreams. Dreams are easy to come by as a kid, the older we get the fewer they come, stay young at heart and they might come true. Otherwise we become..
